I am in the process of writing a new adapted book to use with my students (K-2). I have a bunch of students who use augmentative and alternative communication (I'm a speech-language path.) and often write adapted books they can read/retell.
The classroom teacher is doing the 5 senses this month and so I am writing a book on it. For the taste page I need some ideas of things that are bitter but that I can keep in the book because the book is very interactive. I hope what I'm saying makes sense.
For sour I have sour candy strips that dissolve on the tongue. For sweet, I'll keep some sugar in packets that the students can open and taste. For salty I can keep some salt packets. These will be kept in the book and students will get to experience them as we read the book. Storing it all in the book is very helpful.
So, what can I do for bitter??? I have no ideas!!! Sorry this post got so long, it was harder to explain than I thought.

Re: Bitter foods...need help for my students!
The only bitter foods I can think of are things like escarol, broccoli rabe, raddicio, endive... greens.

Re: Bitter foods...need help for my students!
hmmm some good ideas. THANKS! I may just have to let this one go and put in a picture of something like coffee. They just won't be able to taste it. Unless there is a lemon candy that isn't very sour/sweet and is sugar free. I wonder...

What about those sour patch kid candies?
ETA: It might be confusing though that they are both sour and sweet.
