Re: Black Forest Bakery--Tasting?
I went last week to pick my cake from BFB. Its my understanding that they do not do tastings. However I did not know what a canolli filling was, so the girl gave me one to taste, I ended up picking the canolli filing for my 2nd and 3rd tier.
I must say although they do not do tastings, I had a wonderful experience. My cake is included in my package and I was overwhelmed with options. I was able to combine photos that I saw to make my dream cake and I was able to pick 3 filings, at no extra cost. When I went into the bakery the only thing I knew was I wanted a square cake. The girl was so nice and patient with me.

Re: Black Forest Bakery--Tasting?
They really don't do tastings?
They are one of the bakeries I can choose my cake from (other one is Campbell's). I don't think I'd be comfortable going with a bakery and not doing some kind of tasting. Although I have heard great things about BFB, I would still want to do the tasting.

That is great to know, thanks for the info. I am not worried about the tastings, because I have gotten so many other cakes there and they were delicious. Did you make an appointment? They are my rh's bakery too!

Re: Black Forest Bakery--Tasting?
from my own exp.....bakerys dont do tastings when its included in a package. IF you go there and buy direct from them that is when they will arrange one for you. (After they have a deposit from you) Thats how it worked when I was married....

Re: Black Forest Bakery--Tasting?
I don't think they do tastings, we've ordered sooo many cakes from them over the years. our e-party cake was by far my FAVORITE!
the only thing I never liked is their fresh fruit on a cake. everytime I got something with strawberry or black cherry the cake always tasted dry and the fruit just didn't taste right.
for our e-party we had chocolate cake with ½ choc mousse ½ cannoli, and buttercream icing (that totally made it taste AMAZING) the caterer promised we'd take home at least ¼ of the cake, yea there was NONE left, people were going up for thirds.

I e-mailed the bakery months ago and never got a response. I think the best thing to do is call the bakery and make an appointment. Its about a 25 min drive from the Coral House, if that long. The Coral House will show you one little book with cakes to choose from, while the bakery will show you 3 huge books with cakes to choose from. I was really blown away with the options. Deal with the bakery directly, you can’t go wrong.
