i know this may be a silly question BUT does anyone think its tacky to address the invite envelopes with the computer's black ink or is supposed to match the invitation ink color?

every calligrapher i contacted recommended black ink because it's easier to read. my invitations were in gray ink and it made no difference that the addresses were in black. i think black is classier IMO as well

That's what we did, I wasn't going to concern myself with if the ink matched because I knew that the envelope would most likely end up in the garbage right away.

I would run them thru the printer also. i did this fir the front and the back of the invite envelopes.

Black ink is fine that is what i will use for mine.
I wouldn't use labels for the return address though. I would print them from the computer as well.

If you do decide to do clear labels be careful and do print tests. I recently sent out a bunch of invitations to a bridal shower and used the clear labels (from Staples) but they smeared like crazy, even a day after printed! I was so disappointed. I guess it could have to do with the printer but I'm sure whatever I used it similar to what you have at home.

I did a dark blue on mine so it was easier to read and had turquoise ink on the invitation
