Black Tablecloths okay?

Black Tablecloths okay?

my BM dresses are black and it's a day reception in a room with glass ceilings - are black tablecloths okay? i think it'll look cool, but i'm afraid it'll look morbid. it's a small wedding, so there won't be too many tables. And my centerpieces will have lots of candle light.

what do you think?

I think it can look cool. Plus, with daylight and glass ceililngs, it won't be too dark. What color CPs?
I'm doing chocolate brown overlays over deep red floor linens. I know it'll be a little dark but I want a warm, fall-like room. I'm planning on a lot of candles--amber votives and flowers are vibrant with red and burnt orange.

oo-oo-OOO! that sounds lovely. rich!
especially with the overlays...

\and the candle lights will bring em out more too!

my cp's are silver favor tree's which will have silver mini-lanterns hung on them (which are favors too).

I think it sounds good. The silver will really pop against the black. You can also put the centerpiece on top of a mirrored charger b/c they throw lots of light, but again, I think with the glass ceiling, you'll be fine.

I think if you throw in some bright colored accents it will look amazing. As long as everything isnt black in the room it will be nice contrast.

Are you using a lighter accent color? I honestly do think black table cloths would look somewhat morbid. I'd consider white with a black overlay instead...

now there's an idea! i like it. but it won't keep the budget in line.

my CP's are silver favor tree's with silver mini-lanterns which will all have tea lights lit up inside. there will also be scattered rose petals surrounding each CP. either in red, magenta or white. cant
decide on that part yet.

there will be no other black in the room. ivory napkins will be used as well....all prelim - still not sure.

It could work in your budget, if you use the halls' floor length table linens in ivory and then just rent the overlay, which tend to be cheaper than floor lengths. Just an idea! The overlays over ivory might look nice since you're having ivory napkins.

I'd go with ivory linens personally. My BMs wore dark navy and we had all ivory table linens. That many tables will be a LOT of black in the room.

However, if you like the look, go for it! It's YOUR day and the tables only have to be to your liking.

I wouldn't do black for a wedding - just my opinion, but I don't know how one would pull that off??

I'm doing black as well (well, black on top, white underneath, white napkins etc, etc) in the bigger room at Fox Hollow. I honestly think it can look really classy when you have alot of white with it or some colored accents.

It's your wedding, do whatever you want.

Re: Black Tablecloths okay?

the only reason i wouldn't do black is b/c i saw an episode of top chef where they got really badly criticized for doing black tableclothes in their restaurant and the food critic said who would want to eat off a black table?? so that's my only reason. doesn't make much sense but i am obsessed with that show.

can they show you any pictures so you can get an idea what it looks like? i agree with black BM dresses it might be too much dark.

not a fan of the black idea.. think it may take away from the glass top...

maybe do ivory/ white tablecothes and black napkins??

or do the bottom tablecloth black with and ivory/white overlay..

with the candlelight i think it will look fine! also, if the tablecloths have a bit of sheen to them it won't look morbid, but pretty. my RH had really nice satin stripe tablecloths and even though i went with white i really liked the darker colors too.

i think as long as u have bright centerpieces that'll pop against the black, i think it'll look awesome.
