Black Tie???

Alright, this is probably a silly question, but I have to ask .. to satisfy my husband ..

I plan to wear a black dress to an upcoming afternoon wedding, and he's going to wear a light grey suit .. would it be okay for him to wear a black tie with his suit???? The tie is a perfect match to my dress .. but the idea of a black tie for him makes him think funeral .. and he's afraid it would be inappropriate for a wedding .. I said to him .. 'black tie affair' .. but he's a little worried.

He definitely has other ties to pick from that would work okay .. but I had liked the idea of this black tie.

Yes on both counts .. Yes, it is a light grey suit, and yes, he does have other ties to pick from, including one that has a black and grey pattern.

Anyone else???? I really thought we would look sharp together with him wearing that suit and tie, and me wearing my dress.
