Black Tie

So one of my FH good friends is getting married Nov 18th...they are getting married in a very fancy place and it is black tie optional
do you think he has to rent a tux or should he just wear a suit?

OMG - I need help with this to. FH & I were invited to a wedding @ Capital (sp?) in the city and it is black tie.It is the VP @ work daughter's wedding - they are going all out and it is going to be a very expensive wedding.
I have no idea if he should wear a tux or a nice suit BUT what am I going to wear? I guess I should wear a nice dress???

I think i have to get a gown ....how the heck are you supposed to save for a wedding when have to spend all this money going to them !

I would either go with a tux or if he has, you can go with a solid black suit, white shirt, black tie.

I definitely feel your pain with the weddings though. FH and I have 5 to go to already before ours!

i have 5 weddings too in 2007/2008!

black tie = tux and gown - which *****. . . lol its so archaic! you should be able to wear whatever you want

i cant help but feeling that people with black tie weddings dont trust their guests to make their own fashion choices lol

FH and I have 4 weddings to go to before ours and one of them is in Wales he is the best man, so we have to go.
Just thinking about hotel and plane tickets makes me angry. How are we suppose to save money.

I'd go with a solid black suit... I have a gown if anyone wants to borrow it.... It's sparkly and pretty. I wore it to two separate weddings and got a TON of compliments on it. I'm rather small chested too so I bet with more boobage you'd get even more compliments.

yea one of those 5 weddings is my sister's which I'm MOH for!

you should get a tux.

we were at a black tie affair on sat night and there was one person without a tux on. needless to say he stood out.

ok just wanted to make sure ...that's what i told him...but you know guys ...they never believe you until 10 people them them the same thing !

As excited as I am for weddings....i have been to my share

2005 i think i had 5 weddings
2006 i have had 7 weddings
2007 I have 5 already that i know of

My brother asked why am i not getting married in 07....first the dates i wnat are taken....second i am a bridesmaid in two of them...and third i asked him if he wanted to pay and he said no
