I don't know if i want to put formal or someone suggested to put black tie optional. I don't want the guys to think they might have to wear a tux because I don't like the look of every guy in a tux so not sure how everybody would take it. I noticed that people get confused about these things, I put formal on my e-party invites and so many people were asking me what they should wear

Re: Black Tie optional
I do have confidence in our guests though to wear appropriate clothes. I hope they realize a saturday night wedding should be dressy

Re: Black Tie optional
I put 'Black Tie Optional'. This way the guys know if they own a tux they can wear it..and if not they can wear a suit. Alot of my guy friends who own a tux are actually excited to wear it.

Re: Black Tie optional
People can wear what they want to wear. They know its a wedd and they know they need to get dressed up and not come in with shorts on

Re: Black Tie optional
I believe we're writing Black Tie Affair... because my mom hated preferred for some stupid reason, so to make it easier I just changed the word on my e-party and everyone dressed really nice.

I have to agree with you. You would hope people know better but i have heard and see some instances were guests feel its ok to wear sun dresses or khakis and a sweater.
I am going to write Black Tie Welcome.

Re: Black Tie optional
I don't think it's necessary unless you want black tie only...it may make some feel obligated to buy a tux and might cause some people to not want to go...I know some people are weird like that. It's really up to you though. I am not going to..hope that helps a little?? lol

I was shocked myself. Also if you are having out of town guests sometimes they dont realize how weddings are in New York. I have been 2 a wedding upstate and it was a bit different. Also down south and the midwest the weddings arent how we have weddings. Never take for granted that people are used to what you are used to.

Re: Black Tie optional
no just formal. I dont like the look of all tuxes and i dont want people to have that added expence. not everyone owns a tux and I hate the look of women in beaded gowns, looks cheesey to me haha. I'd rather there be differences in the suits the men wear and etc

just to add to this... i just dont get people who do that (wear jeans to a wedding)
BUT in all honesty, the person who is silly enough to do that, is prob someone im not to worried about, its not going to be a person who is going to take formal pictures with me (because anyone who would, would know how to dress, they would be close to me to know that) so honestly,... i would not even care. not worth stressing out over!!!

Re: Black Tie optional
nope... but go for it - it's optional!
ETA: I almost forgot! My friend did this and someone showed up to her wedding in slacks, a button down, and a nice sweater over it... In his defense though, I think he was someone's date and she didn't tell him it was black tie optional or if she did, she didn't tell him what it meant!
