So Ive been searching the board and I still cant come up with an appropriate answer.
Would it be wrong if I wrote 'black tie invited' on my invites if my wedding is a Friday night not Saturday wedding?
I will also not have a band, but a multicultural DJ, Frank sinatra singer during dinner(1/2 hour), and possibly Ecuadorian band to sing culturally ecaudorian songs for 20 minutes.
Will my guests be annoyed that it says black tie invited for a Friday night wedding with no band?

You can do whatever you want, it's your wedding! And I dont think people should be annoyed - I think Black Tie should be expected at any wedding unless otherwise stated.

Re: Black tie question
After a certain time of day, it would be consider a formal (black tie). I don't think you should have a problem with that. My girlfriend got married at 6:30p.m. and stated formal affair on her invites.

Re: Black tie question
If the guests get mad-they shouldn't be coming. This is your wedding and it is up to you on how you want your wedding to go.

Re: Black tie question
imo, and that's all it is really, i'm just being totally honest, if i received a black tie optional invitation, i would expect a band or live music on a saturday night at an upscale venue. but i can be kind of old school like that. if it's important to you, do it.
