My Dh and I were invited to a black tie wedding - NOT black tie optional, does he really need to wear a tux?
What do you/did you think your guests should wear? Men and women

wow - how exciting! where will it be held? im sure its going to be a great event. I was recently invited to a black tie optional and wore an old bridesmaids dress - it was a long black chiffon dress from davids. super comfy and looked great! i would think, if it says black tie, you guys should both dress up - tux included.

The wedding is at the Metropolitan. And you're right, I do think we should get dressed up. I mean, really, besides our own wedding, how often is there an occasion to wear something this nice?
I guess I have an excuse to buy a new dress

Pam, please let me know what you think of the Metropolitan. We looked at it for our wedding but thought it would be to small for us. I loved the inside, but hated the parking and no place to take pictures.

Yup, black tie means tuxedos for guys...or a really nice black suit and silk tie (like the Oscars red carpet). Ladies can wear anything fancy but let's face it - gowns are just fun!

The idea of black tie sounds like a stuffy event to me, but the dressing up should be fun! Go all out if that is what is expected

Absolutely, I'll let you know. How many guests are you having at your wedding? This wedding that we're going to, I imagined it to be huge - maybe I'm wrong.
Also this wedding is having the church at 2pm and the party at 7pm, I guess we won't be at the church - which is kinda a bummer

your talking about the place in Glen Cove right? When we saw it, they had it set up for 150, that's about what we think we will have. I love the balcony that's above the main room.
