Yeah, def.

Look, anyone can do whatever they want. I just think even a slight tan makes white look really good on a girl.

With your wealth of knowledge and hobby then can you help me make my fiance look less like Kevin James and more like James Bond?
Seriously though...what cut lapel or designer would you suggest

Great question.

Here are my suggestions:

1. If he is going to buy, have the tailor take in the waist of the jacket a bit more (called waist suppression) to give him more of a V shape.

2. Peak lapel will give the illusion of a wider shoulder and a narrower waist.

3. On the shirt, a point collar will elongate a face, whereas a spread collar can make it look wider.

4. As a general rule, the Italian brands (Armani, Canali, Cornaliani, etc.) will have more of an athletic, 'james bond' type look.

but we all kinda still secretly like him in spite!

Thanks BTG (look he now has new LIW too).
He actually has the wider shoulders but I appreciate the info about the lapels. He's all into a Calvin Klein tux that he saw.

Not a problem at all. Just have the tailor take in the waist.

Here is an example of a jacket with peak lapels and a suppressed waist. Looks damn good IMO:

The other thing that will make him look more dapper and bond-esque is paying attention to the details of men's dress. I'm happy to discuss that at length, but totally understand if you don't want to get into that haha.

hey blacktie guy-- i think you'd really like this cool suit place FH went to for his tux. Although you do seem to like the classic look, and this place is very modern. They take your measurement using a machine
