Every year I make a list of what I can get everybody and the approximate price of each gift. Then I take the cash out of the bank and put it in a special 'Gift Envelope' and that's what I take shopping with me (no credit or debit cards or extra cash).

In six years I haven't gone overbudget and have money left over!

Two years ago I started using only cash for the holidays b/c before that I found myself paying off Christmas bills all throughout the year - not fun

I set up a saving account in the beginning of the year and but $75 in each week and had tons of $$ by the time Christmas shopping came around...but then I just got my American Express in and it's over $3,000 so I just have to pay it off now. phewww

i babysit like a zilion times between nov 1- and xmas and i use all that money plus some cash ...and have a merry xmas! lol this is the only night i have off this week...otherwise im babysitting!
