My FH has this thing about Black Out Shades. He works 3- midnight. So he does like to sleep late. And for some reason it has to be dark. Me I can sleep no matter what! We are currently fighting (well not really fighting but discussing) What we want to put on the windows. I would like Just Blinds. He on the other hand Wants Black Out shades. the kind that you pull down manually And you can't see any light through. No offense to anyone that has them but I am not a big fan of them. Anyone have any Ideas?

Re: Blinds.
They have light filtering blinds. You might be able to settle on those. Cellular shades are also light filtering. There are a few options rather than roller shades if you don't want them. Good luck

Pleated Blinds help filter out the light too ... I have them in a cream color and my bedroom is very dark.

Re: Blinds.
We have room darkening blinds. They are great. They're cellular and they're color tinted...white on the outside, any color on the inside. When they're down it's always dark in the rooms. We got them at Lowe's.

Re: Blinds.
Thanks everyone. He swears that room darkining and light filtering shades don't work. Im going to try those shades that are a color on the inside. The carpeting in the bedrooms of the apt. we are renting is Teal. Not crazy about the color we were going to change them but decided against them. Thans again!

Re: Blinds.
I was never a fan of blackout shades either. When I was growing up we had white ones all over the house and they were awful.
We just put some in the nursery though, in a color to compliment the room, and I have to admit that the colored ones aren't as terrible as the neutral colored ones. I'm actually pleased with how they turned out. These are the windows in the nursery:
I think that depending on what kind of fabric/color you use, it might not be that bad. HATE the scallop and fringey edge, but this fabric is nice (although making that a blackout shade would sort of defeat the sheer fabric)
I have flat fold roman shades like this in the bathroom which are also available with a blackout option.

Re: Blinds.
We have room darkening pulldowns under our sheers in the bedroom. You can't seem them at all when they are not pulled down and I like having the dark room at night.
You can get really dark veritcal blinds made but they are very expensive.....

Susans the nursery is gorgeous!! I love the colors & the dark furniture looks great! I am also a fan of the black-out shades, I think nothing compares so sorry I can't help you! But doing some windows your way & some his sounds like a good idea!

Susans the nursery looks fantastic! I love Smith + Noble too!
With the blinds, if you don't get the black outs, the wood blinds are good or you can get heavily lined curtains. I am sensitive to the light when I sleep and have found both of those worked for me. DH doesn't get it!
