block of hotel rooms

block of hotel rooms

So question folks: I'm getting married Labor Day weekend in the city and have been looking for hotel room blocks. Is it normal for them to quote rates that are higher than the lowest rate you see on some website (i.e. priceline)? Because that's what's been happening when I call up. Is it rude not to have a block instead and have people book their own rooms because they'll find a better deal?

I don't think it is rude, but a block holds a set of rooms just for you guests till a certain date. So if you don't block rooms not everyone will be guaranteed to stay at the same place If you are ok with that I don't see a problem. I am providing transportation from my hotel so this would pose a problem.
