Blocking Hotel Rooms

Blocking Hotel Rooms

Ok ladies, i need your opinions! I am an East Wind bride and today i decided i had to get my @$$ in gear and do a few things for my wedding! (Ive been to busy to even think about it, i know its bad) But anyways- i decided to call and find out about blocking rooms. I already did it for another hotel and the rate was $179.00. Being that we will be staying at East Wind, i called them about blocking rooms. Here's where i need your help.

Option # 1- If you are an East Wind bride you get 10% off making the price $268

Option # 2 - BUT They recommend me leaving a deposit on each room (50%) to lower the price to $238 per room (20% off org. price) Now i was going to block 10 rooms, which would mean a little more that $1,000 deposit that i would have to pay. If those 10 rooms dont get booked im responsible for them.

Would you bother leaving the deposit to make it 30 bucks cheaper for your guests, or just block the rooms off at the 10% discount rate ( For this no deposit is required)?

Sorry its so long! Thanks in advance!

Re: Blocking Hotel Rooms

We blocked rooms at East Wind. We originally had one block of 10 rooms and had to put down $1,000 for them. When guests called they have to put 50% down. THe rate we got was $179 a night, so guests had to pay $90 when booking. We also another 10 rooms a few weeks ago.

Re: Blocking Hotel Rooms

I blocked 15 rooms at Eastwind and 20 rooms at the Best Western. The Best Western did not make you leave a deposit, but East did make us leave 50% of the charge. If the rooms do not get booked up, you do not get yours 50% back. My plan is when I sent STD's, I will put the Hotel info in there and if the rooms are not booked up about 3-4 months before, I will release them.

The risk you have of not blocking rooms at Eastwind now is they get booked up QUICK! I had to change my date once already because the rooms were already booked for that weekend for another wedding.

With my crowd, I know all the rooms will be booked
