Blocking hotel rooms

Blocking hotel rooms

So, I am finally going to actually call the hotel today to see if I can block rooms. We are trying to keep our wedding to about 100 people, but right now the list is at about 125. How many rooms should I block? I have had a few family members and several friends say that they would like to get rooms. I was thinking of blocking 20 rooms. Does this sound right? Does anyone know what happens if all the rooms do not get booked?

Some hotels will only let you book a certain amount and then if you need more then they let you add. IF you don't book all that have been reserved usually one month before then they go back into the pool for general public.

I believe the max is 20 rooms. I would always like to have more because ya never know.
Also, I would try & figure out who is OOT & then see how many rooms you need. I did two hotels one for 20 & one for 10

well depending on how many people you think will really stay there- but i am starting with 10 - thats usually the min. and then the hotel said they would call me once those are booked and we can then add on.

we had about 185 people at our wedding and we blocked 15 rooms but people that we never thought would block rooms did block rooms. 19 rooms ended up being booked
