Blocking Hotel Rooms

Blocking Hotel Rooms

Everyone, I mean everyone, is coming from out of town for my wedding. My fiance and I are from different parts of the world so we're just having it relatively close by to where we live and having mostly old friends and family coming.

How many hotel rooms should we or can we block? We have 75 people coming to the wedding, which breaks down to at least 50 couples/families.

That is way too many rooms to block at one place, right?

The most any hotel would let me block is 20 so I suggest doing it asap.
They will hold for the month prior to wedding and then after that they are released back into the system.

Mine gave us 10 to start and then release 5 more at a time.

Mine allowed 15 rooms to start and you can add them on as they get booked. If that's the case, you could always block rooms at more than one hotel.

our hotel let us block 20 for the night before and 40 for the night of the wedding. Talk to your hotel about it and ask about cancellation policy and what if anything you'll have to pay for rooms that weren't blocked.

Usually hotels have a cut off date (ours was 3 weeks before the wedding) where they won't accept anymore reservations under the discounted rate.

Re: Blocking Hotel Rooms

That's really helpful, thanks!

I really need a place that won't charge me since I'll be blocking as many rooms as possible (apparently 20 might be the limit, but I'll take what I can get!)

I have heard La Quinta and Holiday Inn don't charge you for rooms that aren't taken. Does anyone know any other hotels nearby Swan Club with a policy like this?

I'll make the calls tomorrow, I just need to gather a list together beforehand. Thanks again for all the help!! I'd be lost without LIW
