Has anyone blocked rooms in a hotel that offers shuttle service? It didn't occur to me to ask about shuttles until after we attended a friends wedding recently and saw how super convenient it was! My fiance and I had a great time and had no worries about getting back to the hotel at the end of the night...
I'm currently booked for the bridal suite at La Quinta Inns & Suites (formerly Wingate Inn). I received the contract in the mail and they actually DO offer shuttles, but only if you book 15 rooms, and I'm not sure we will.
Our reception is at Jericho Terrace, so we'd like to stay in that area. We're not in love with the place (we haven't even seen it, booked based on recommendations on liweddings.com), so we'd go somewhere else if they offer shuttles.
Thanks!
Edit: I called La Quinta and they said we can purchase the shuttle if we don't book enough rooms, anyone have even a ballpark figure of what that goes for? Because they told me they'd tell me when we discuss it a week before the wedding (I'm assuming it depends on how many rooms we booked...)

Are you using the hotel the RH recommends? I blocked rooms at the hotel my RH recommends and they said since they are the recomended hotel they will give us unlimited shuttles no matter how many rooms.

For Executive Inn in Woodbury: Do you know if they have a bridal suite? I'm checking out their website, looks nice and not too far!
The night before the wedding some of my bridesmaids and I are sharing the bridal suite, so we'd need to be able to sleep 6 (we're fine with floor space for air mattresses, just need the room). Then obviously, night of the wedding will be me and the husband .
Also: I emailed the RH to find out, good idea, thanks!
And worst case scenario, that $500 doesn't seem sooo bad.

Exec. inn doesn't have a bridal suite. It's your standard motel, with king rooms and double bed rooms. Nice place, but basic.

You have to book 15 rooms for one roundtrip shuttle. If you don't use the shuttle the credit of $150 goes to anything else like the grand bridal suite.
If you book 30 rooms you get 2 roundtrips. Just FYI, the shuttle is only a 15-passenger van. I'll have more than that staying at the hotel.

Re: Blocking hotel with shuttle service??
We used the 4 Points Sheraton and they had a shuttle for $500. However, the shuttle ended up being the one thing that went wrong at my wedding but it wasn't until the end of the night so it didn't really matter. It was just an annoyance and an inconvenience.

Re: Blocking hotel with shuttle service??
At my hotel it was $100, but it was for a 10 person van. Which was great, till Friday traffic was a biotch and my cousins who caught the second shuttle missed my ceremony!
Make sure you know exactly what you are paying for

Re: Blocking hotel with shuttle service??
$100 would be great!! They wouldn't be for the ceremony, just the reception, so that shouldn't be a problem... sorry to hear about that though!

Re: Blocking hotel with shuttle service??
We are using La Quinta and have 14 rooms x 2 nights each booked so far, so we shouldn't have trouble getting the second shuttle. I think extras are something like $200 but I'm not really sure.
Anyone know if they will do a third shuttle if you have enough rooms for it? I think we might be able to meet that as well...

Re: Blocking hotel with shuttle service??
we set up our accomadations with the Winngate since our wedding was at JT also...it's actually a really nice hotel. They offered to keep the bar open for an after party at no additional charge, provided the shuttles, and included breakfast the next morning. Honestly, u are not obligated to booking the rooms u block...so u should just do it. They give u a time frame, and if the rooms aren't booked by that date then they release them....ur guests also have up untill the night before the wedding to cancel. ...but U dont have to pay for them or anything like that...My guests had only good things to say good luck!
dh & i stayed at the Garden City Hotel 'cause we wanted our privacy......THAT place is GORGOUS!

Re: Blocking hotel with shuttle service??
We have the rooms blocked at Wingate (now La Quinta), just don't think we'll make the 15 room requirement... but that's fine if we can purchase the shuttles for a reasonable price. We're giong to wait and see how many rooms actually get booked.
We booked the bridal suite there too, just saw it last night, LOVED it!! We want to after-party with our friends if they stay there, we've had 7.5 years of privacy and we have the honeymoon for like 17 days after the wedding, so I think we can spare some time at the hotel lol
