hello. so for our wedding night we want to block off 15 rooms...we will be in riverhead, and it seems there aren't many hotel options nearby, just best western eastend and their new holiday inn express...best western is $189/room and holiday inn is $200/room (IF 10 rooms get filled). are these rates reasonable? i thought the holiday inn would be nicer bc its brand new, but the bestwestern is $20 cheaper, so i guess we'll go for that one. the suite is not available for us in either hotel :( are their any hotels out east (near the aquarium) that i missed? anyone have anything to say about the best western east end? thanks girls! ~lacey

Re: blocking off rooms
I have not been to either hotel, but the prices seem reasonable for a summer weekend.

Re: blocking off rooms
Hi. call the banquet department or ask for a manager on call and ask them for a group rate. They should be able to drop the price a bit for you.
Good luck!

Re: blocking off rooms
I am using both hotel for my wedding. I am sure they are fine. My aunt stayed at the Best Western once, she said it okay. There really are not many choices out there. I would block off rooms now b/c they book quickly in the summer.

Re: blocking off rooms
189 seems high to me for a best western. we got rooms at the hyatt for 129 per night (but this could also be because we're having our wedding there).

Re: blocking off rooms
My wedding was out east this past year and the rates were much lower (I think we paid $159 for the regular rooms and $199 for the one suite). The best western was an ok hotel, it was clean and comfortable. The big draw of the hotel was the shuttle that went back and forth from the catering hall.
The other hotel I price was the Hampton Inn in Farmingville which was a hike but at the time they too were offering free shuttle service. I believe they no longer are but it might be worth checking.

Re: blocking off rooms
Our guests stayed at the Best Western and the Hampton Inn in Farmingville. We got the $189 price for the BW, too, probably because it was Memorial Day weekend. Their prices are higher during the summer. We picked these two hotels because of the free shuttles. The Holiday Inn Express wasn't open yet when we got married. Both were fine - they were clean, comfortable, and the staff was very nice. The shuttles worked out great, too. We did check out some of the larger B&Bs for our families and wedding parties, but they ended up being so much more expensive.
