Blocking rooms

Blocking rooms

When you block rooms...do you typically do it over the phone? Or do you go in to talk to someone? I want to go see a bunch of hotels and see the honeymoon suites, etc. but I have no idea how to go about this. One of my BM's friends was going to help us but she's going to work at a hotel in Philly so now I actually have to do work lol. Help!

Honestly, just limit it to looking at 2 hotels....if you go online you can see pictures and narrow it down that way. This was this weeks project for my FH and I. We wound up booking with the Melville Marriott. We fell in love with it when we went to look there, they emailed me the contract and i mailed it back. it was pretty painless!

I would call and see what each has to offer then go and see in person!

yea, call the ones you are interested in to price them out and check availability. and then narrow it down to the ones you want to see. I did practically everything over the phone/email....had them mail/email me a contract that i'm taking with me tomorrow when i go see the places.

you must go look at the hotels and the rooms they will be offering. They can do a contarct and fax or email it to you.

The contract protects you, thats it. It basically states you want X amount of rooms and that your guests have to book at least 4 weeks in advance and after than day they cannot gaurantee the rate or a room.

Re: Blocking rooms

I went to about 7 hotels, and then picked. They were all relatively close, but I wanted to see the rooms first hand. Also see how their staff act. Some websites are deceiving. I blocked rooms in two hotels, one with a free shuttle and free breakfast and cheap rates, the other with a nicer accommodation, free breakfast, no shuttle. I have A LOT of OOTers.

Good luck!
