So 1 BM and 1 GM are married to eachother and have a kid. The original plan was to leave the kid at home in Pittsburgh with his sister, or for the sister to come witht hem to NY to watch the baby.
I just got an email from my BM asking if they could bring the baby since the original plan has fallen thru and they can't find a babysitter.
I haven't responded and wanted to get your opinions...
1. I am not having any kids at the wedding. 2. Who will watch the kid during the ceremony and pictures and reception - they are int eh BP and are needed to participate in everything. 3. How will the kid get to everything since they will be in the limo with the BP - do they think the baby will come in the limo? or that they won't come in the limo at all?
I don't want to offend them or hurt their feelings, but I don't know what to do...
HELP!

I think they are asking if the child can come to the wedding. It's a tough spot to be in. We are not having children at our wedding and a member of our bridal party dropped out because of it. I really don't know what to say except if you are adamant about not having children be prepared that they may back out. Good luck

What about if you set up a babysitter for them here? Thats what I am doing for any OOT guests that cant find someone to watch their kids and are still coming since I did not want kids at the wedding.

You have a lot of good points, I would ask them these questions, maybe they haven't even thought about it, don't say no, just ask what they werethinking about doing with the kid while pics, BP entrance, ceremony, car seat in Limo questions and see what they say.GL

We are not having kids either, but.. first of all, do not worry about watching the kid, it is solely their responsibility ( especially considering the fact that they know that there will be no more kids at the wedding). May be you can make an exception for them, as it does happen when plans fall through......

Hmm..that's a tough one. I would bring up those pts about pics, limos, etc. And offer to find a babysitter. I would say make an exception but I know how tough that can be. I'm having kids over 10 and if I had to make an exeption for one toddler, I would probably have to hear it from everyone else who left their toddler at home.

Its very simple...you can't say yes for them to bring their child because you aren't allowing any other guests to bring any children. It wouldn't be fair. I feel like its their responsibility to figure it out somehow. I would nicely tell them it would be unfair to your other guests since its an adult reception and their are other people with children. They should respect that and understand. JMO Good luck!

It seems to me that the trouble will be more having the baby in the limo and during picture taking than at the reception itself. Can you even take babies in limo's? Do they have a car seat? What a sticky situation for you you don't want to be heartless and say the baby can't come, but if it does, you know that is pretty much saying the couple won't be able to participate in any of the BP stuff, they'll be too preoccupied. Maybe just have an open conversation with one of them, bring up all the excellent points you raised here. Good luck!
