BM dress dye lots...

BM dress dye lots...

I'm in my brother's BP (Upstate) and we're ordering our dresses from David's Bridal. His Fiance wants me to order my dress through the Syracuse store with the rest of her BM's because she was told that if my dress is ordered from Carle Place it will come from a different dye lot and may be a different shade than the rest of the dresses. Has anyone heard of this before or experienced this?

This concerns me because I'm letting my girls pick their own dresses (by the same designer, same color and fabric) and told them they can order from wherever they want.

Thanks!

I was in a wedding in CT, and we got the dresses from david's. I went to the Yonkers one, tried it on, & was measured. The semstress wrote it down for me & I clled the CT store & they ordered them all together. When they all came in, mine was shipped to me from the store.

I've always heard the dye lot thing, but I've never hear of anyone who ordered separately & it didn't look right.

Re: BM dress dye lots...

I think it's one of those wedding industry urban myths.

I was told that when I orderd too, my MOH is out of state, but did not mind her being different. I did wind up ordering them all here in NY, so when she flys here, they will press it free for her, and the colors will deffinetly match.

The reason I don't beleive it is,,,I am considering buying wraps to match the dresses and asked should I order them at time of the dresses. They said I don't need to, I can order them when dresses come in and see if I still want them. WELL then how will they match, if made at a later time

Myth or Fact hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Bridal Urban Legends?? Hmmm......something to think about. Really, how off can a dye lot from the same manufacturer be??

HEY CIMINOK....THANKS! I didn't even realize that was my 1,000th post!! Wooohooo.

I have heard this but I didn't let it stop me from letting my girls pick different dresses. The colors did match perfectly. All dresses were from Dessy/After Six and the same material. My friend did similar from Jessica McClintock. We all ordered a dress in the same material from any store we wanted to and had no issue with color either.

This is not an Urban myth it is TRUE!!

I've experienced it first hand!

I was in a bridal party a few years ago - it was just me and another girl and the bride (my cousin) let us pick whatever dress we wanted (it had to be the same) but it had to be blue.

Fine right? Only two gals - no problem right? WRONG!

We ordered it together on the same day. When it came in it was two different shades of blue! One was navy blue and the other was blue that tended to be a little purplish. The difference was very obvious (and it wasnt another color because the color number was the same but the lot number was different).

The guy there was giving us a hassle - we finally mad him reorder the dresses.

Maybe it depends on the designer - but we defintely had a problem... The desiger was Alfred Angelo.

Nicey, my girls are picking from Dessy/After Six also.....matte satin in Espresso to be exact. That's encouraging that you didn't have a problem.

I also used Matte Satin but bordeaux...

Dye lots can and do vary.I Learned this when working at a Bridal store . Sometimes it's noticible (sp) other times you would never know the diffrence.Since you have the chance to order them all from the same place at the same time I would recomend it just to be on the safe side. The last thing you need is something to worry about when so much planning is going on.
Good Luck

I wonder if the material also has something to do with it?

hmmm, then why did the girl tell me I can order the wraps at a later time (irredescent taffeta material)??? What if they don't match??? I don't think I will do them in tafeta anyway, but still makes me wonder?

Ooooooooo Halloweenbride04 me too! I'm ordering dresses from Dessy/after six in espresso. I'm letting the BM an MOH order them from different stores because we all live in different states.

I think that this whole dye lot is a myth thing. My mom was a seamstress and int his day and age they can make fabrics that match perfectly from dye lot to dye lot. But I have had this happen to me a lot. I live in Chicago and have been in many weddings in NY where I get told I have to order from the same store as exveryone else. I've never believed this but I go through with it anyway!
Oh well.

Re: BM dress dye lots...

Don't they have great dresses chicagogal? The Espresso is such a beautiful color too. I will order my BM dress for my brother's wedding from Syracuse to appease the B2B but my girls are all over too, so I don't want to inconvenience them by ordering from one place and then be concerned about whether their dress got to them safely, etc...
