BM Dress Help

Hello Ladies,

I need help with a decision. My BM's and I finally went to go look at the dress I picked out and order it. While we were there, we found out one of my BM's would not be able to fit into the largest size the Manufacturer's dress size goes up to (she would be off by 9'). I tried not to seem upset, because she was upset enough, but I love this dress (it's a Mori Lee). I seem to have a few options, but we are getting down to the wire. I could go to a seamstress and have her re-create the dress, and make dresses for all the girls. I could have a seamstress open up the seams to add material, or choose another dress that would come in her size. I'm not all that familiar with the workings of a seamstress, but I don't want to have to choose another dress if I don't have to. I would love to hear your suggestions based off looking at the dress.

I know how disappointing this can be.

I think you understand your options well, maybe you could start by talking with a seamstress first. Then, you'll understand if some of the options are even possible. Also, you may want to try to find out if you can purchase fabric from the dress manufacturer.

no offense by any means to anyone. But, if your bridesmaid is too large to fit into the biggest size this designer makes, is she willing to go strapless? That dress is not really made for a big girl. And, I think she would look much more lovely in something accomodating for her size.

Consider two piece gowns that come in her size..where each bridesmaid can feel comfortable? each bridemaid can choose the top they like that way. I'm sure they come in bigger more flattering sizes.

Strapless can work for plus sizes. I am plus sized and some is my MOH and we are both going strapless. I hate when people, especially designers try and 'hide' us under way too much material!

She has no problem going strapless at all. Her major issue with this dress designer is that their sizes are off. Yes she is larger, but she is also 5'2 (we call her compact ). So everything is centrally located, if you catch my drift. Thanks for the tips, I am feeling better about it and will contact a seamstress. Do manufacturer's sell extra material for their gowns?

Some do. Just ask your salon or call the manufacturer.

yes order her the largest size from mori lee which i think is a 28 and order fabric the bridal salon should be able to tell you how much you will need if they compare her measurments to the size measurments.

good luck!
