So I really don't want to do traditional gowns all the same color and style.
I have 8 BM's and 2 MOH's. My plan thus far has been to let everyone choose a dress of their choice in silver, grey, or charcoal. (I am not purposely doing a '50 Shades of Grey' theme - someone asked me that the other day lol). My MOH's I want to do in ice blue. I bought matching necklaces to bring it all together and, will do ribbons around the bouquets (Silver, Charcoal, and Ice Blue).
I need opinions....Do you guys think I should give other guidelines? (Length, Fabric, etc.,)
This website kind of makes me think that anything could work... But I am having trouble deciding. At the end of the day I just want everyone to be comfortable and happy.
I would tell them all to keep it the same length and fabric. I was in my friends wedding and some of us had satin and others had chiffon and some of the pictures looked kinda funny. JMO

You vision sounds lovely! I think limiting their choice of of length and fabric is a good idea. Satin and chiffon will look kind of odd together, but maybe satin a dupioni silk would look okay!

I'm doing the same thing.... Here's my thoughts - Same Fabric definitely as colors vary on fabrics because of dye absorption and the way that light reflects off the dresses in pictures.
I think varying lengths look cute depending on your party. If you are going to do lengths, you may want to consider similar or the same shoes or at least same color.
The most important thing is this - They have to order at the same time (unless it's david's bridal) The reason why is that when the dresses are made, the dye is created for the fabrics as well. If they aren't all from the same dye lot, the color could vary - maybe only slightly but if you are like me that will irk you.

I would give some guidelines on length and fabric. I chose the color but I'm letting them choose the dress. Though I did warn them that the wedding is in mid-November so there's a possibility it could get chilly.
