Hey- I need help. My MOH went to get her dress the other day- it's a Bill Levkoff. Well, they told her (at Renate's on Merrick Road) that the dress itself was $198, and that extra fabric for a half sleeve would be $150 (a HALF SLEEVE!! That's almost the cost of the whole dress!!), and then to make the sleeve is $80. And then tax on top of that!! Does this sound insane to you??
I have read here about less expensive dress stores, but I haven't checked them out. Is there one called Burton's? Do they do BM dresses?? Please help if you can. Thanks!!

sounds insane. I ordered a yard of bill levkoff fabric to get a better idea of color (it was a very large piece, 1 yard x something like maybe 2 yards) and it was ~ $30. I dont know what the cost of making sleeves would be, but the fabric price is definitely unreasonable.
We got our dresses at Lillette's and our BL dresses were $160. Orig $190, Lillette's price $178, 10% off because I got my dress there too.

Wow...SOrry you are going thru this. Did you order her dress already? Can you let her pick a style she likes instead? My girls - (4 of them) are all wearing different dresses. They are all the same color though.
Burtons is the name of the veil place at tri county I believe.

After getting BM dresses at Renates for my sister and sister in law's wedding, I went there recently to see how their boutique still was.... The woman was a b- but I also noticed that their alterations seemed insanely overpriced. If you have time before your wedding, I'd find another boutique to have the extra fabric ordered from and the alterations done at.

That is CRAZY! Forget that place. Go to Burtons. We did and my girls' dresses are like $170 I believe with alterations. 631-424-3377. They are AWESOME there.

You girls are great. I couldn't believe it when she told me! I feel so bad- she's got two small kids, and money is so tight everywhere. Thanks for all your help- just called Burtons, and will call Lillette's next. Keep them coming!

I'm pretty sure a yard is the least amount of fabric you can order from Bill Levkoff, so you might want to use the extra (whatever is leftover from her sleeves) to wrap the bouquet stems, or to make sleeves for any other bridesmaids (and she can split the price with them).
We wrapped the bouquet stems with the fabric and it looked really nice!

My girls are wearing bill levkoff as well, and a lot of them ordered extra fabric to make wraps since its a winter wedding. It was 30 dollars a yard. You don't even need a yard to make sleeves. That just sounds crazy.

the sleeves will not be included in the alteration prices - its a diff. thing but I have to say taht sounds a bit off to charge that much for the fabric and to add sleeves - go elsewhere.
