I was just looking at different websites of BM dresses and I was wondering how much is too much for a bm dress? I don't want my girls to be spending lots of money. I keep thinking about what I would think is too much, but I'd like to get some more opinions. For me, I think anything over $250 is way too much. But I don't think I'd mind spending $200 on a dress for a close friend. Any other opinions?

Re: BM dress question
I would not mind spending $200 but $250 is too much!!! I think the more the BM spend on their dresses & items, it puts a less amount for the gift at the end...FH is in a wedding this weekend & between the two of us, it has cost $400 before we go to the wedding

Re: BM dress question
I would try to shoot for something under $200 because more than likely, they will need alterations that may end up costing up to $60 more than the price of the dress. I do not want to break my friends financially. In fact I told them that bagels in my mother's basement will be fine for a shower. It is a finished basement - don't worry.

Ohh I forgot about alterations! Silly me! You're right, I will now be shooting for under $200.
Bagels in the basement sounds delicious to me

Re: BM dress question
I'm trying to keep mine way below $200 b/c I don't want to bankrupt my sisters, plus my neice is in the wedding also and my sister has to pay for two dresses, and two tuxes since my BIL and nephew are in the wedding as well. You have to figure in alterations also.

Re: BM dress question
I'm hoping to keep mine under $200, including alterations. I only have 3 girls including a maid of honor, and they're all different sizes. In the tiny sizing of Bridal/BM dresses, one is an 8, one is a 16/18, and one is a 24. Oy!

Yes, I think 200.00 would be the most for me also. I did pay over 300.00 for my sister's wedding. I picked out the dresses.

Re: BM dress question
I took the girls with me to try on dresses so they could see what the cost would be. They picked a dress that was $155. I don't think I would want to spend more than $200 for the dress.

Re: BM dress question
I would leave it up to them. I think it's unfair to put an arbitrary number that I am not paying. as long as I like the dress and they all look good, they can spend as little or as much as they want. I feel though that it should definitely be a GROUP decision- not everyone has the same pocket.

Re: BM dress question
I am happy to see this post come up. I was looking for BM dresses today and I was also thinking under 200 dollars for a dress. It's just so diffcult to find a dress that will flatter all their figures while staying under that price. Some BM dresses are ridiculously over priced and I could never ask someone to spend alot of money on a dress they will most likely wear 1 time. Plus some of my BMs are younger and still in undergraduate programs. It's just stressful. I think I might pick out a few dresses that I like and then have them choose.

Re: BM dress question
Bm dresses stink! They're all so expensive! I am hoping to find one between 150-185...It's crazy bc I know if I even spend $100 on a dress for myself to wear of ran occassion I automaticall think of how many use sI can get out of it. The BM dress is usually only a 1 time deal and they cost so much!

Re: BM dress question
$125 the most for bm dresses for me.. i'm going to pay for the dresses as my present for them so the lower the cost of the dress the better for me!!!... and we found some good ones that are in this price range... like WTOO.. so i'm pretty psyched!

Re: BM dress question
I think 200 is the most I would want to spend as you have to take into consideration all the other fees involved. Although I would not mind spending a little more money if the BM dress could be worn to a formal affair in the future.

Re: BM dress question
I think $200 is reasonable. When you're asked to be in a bridal party you have to expect the dress to cost about that much. If you think it's a lot you can always offer to pay for alterations as your gift to them, or for them to get there hair done.

Re: BM dress question
I'd say to keep it as close to $150 or less as you can. Remember it's not just alterations but there are accessories too. Shoes (plus if they have to be dyed), and who's doing hair, make-up, and nails. It can get pretty pricy!
