BM dress question

Hi ladies,

My MOH is getting married in November (2007). I'm in her BP.

So she picked out a BM dress and asked us all to get measured. Being that I'm in Boston and she's in NY, I have to get measured up here.

She tells me that she needs all of our measurements (there are 6 of us) to place the order with the Macy's on Long Island.

So I'm getting measured tomorrow. But I'm really confused. Do I just go to a store and ask someone to measure me?! Even though I'm not getting anything from the store...? And when she gets the dress in am I supposed to go back and forth to NY to get it altered!??!?

Wouldn't it make sense for ME to order the dress from Macy's in Boston?

How do these things work??

I just know that when it comes in it's going to be a pain in the butt to go back and forth to NY to get it altered.

you can go to any store and get measured, they might charge a small fee though. Even the lady at the dry cleaner can do it.
Ordering the dress in Boston sounds good too. Aslong as you have the designer and style.

yeah i know its stupid but when a store places an order together they willmake the bm dresses all together...So the dye will come out exactly the same...Its hard to always duplicate the color, it always comes out a bit different depending on how they do that batch that one time...So if you do it on your own the color might be slightly different

I know if you get it from a different order the dye or something with the dress can be different. So it is important to order it all together so the color is all the same. The material for the dresses have to be cut from the same strip of material.

def have her order it!!! just so the colors arent off.. the macys in boston may have a differnt lot # then the macys on LI , they may have different warehouses... i would go to your local macys and tell them your situation.. 'my friends getting married and shes ordering the dresses on LI but i need my mesurements for her to oder them'

it should be no prob. then when your friend orderes and the dresses come in.. my advice is to have her ship it to you and go back to the macys that measured you and have them alter it! if its tea lenght make sure you get the mesurements i know theres some kind of formula to that .

That's so annoying.
