Was it difficult to get everyone together to go shopping? Also How did you go about picking out a dress? Did you pick it out or did the BM's pick it? Basically, Is it really rude for you to say what dress you want them to wear when they're paying for it, even though you're trying to save them as much as possible? Thanks!

Re: BM Dress Shopping: Your Experiences
I went with my MOH and we went to a few stores and then I picked one place and about 5 dresses and brought the other girls back - and they ended up picking an entirely different dress..lol that was MUCH more money than I had chosen so we paid the difference in price

Re: BM Dress Shopping: Your Experiences
I feel the BP should like the dress since they are paying. My opinion is very much in the minority. Many Brides feel it is my wedding and that's that. I feel if you feel like that, then you should buy the dresses. Having said that, some brides pick out a few styles and then let the girls choose which I think is a great idea. Or they pick a color from a designer and then let the girls choose. Again, I am in the minority. So, in the end you should do what you think is best.
Good luck.

Re: BM Dress Shopping: Your Experiences
It's always hard... I guess it depends on what you want- do you want them all to wear the same thing?
I've been in 5 weddings over the past 2 years and here are the ways that they have done it:
1) they took 1 or 2 girls with them who had different body types from eachother and they all picked a dress that they felt would look good on everyone 2) They pick a designer & color and give a few choices in that group for each girl to pick. This was done for a wedding that I am in this coming weekend and it was great- we all got to pick the top and bottom that we liked best on us. As it turns out, most of us picked the same ones anyway. 3) let everyone pick their own dress in a particular color and fabric
Honestly, my girls just want me to pick out their dress- they will come with me if I want them to but they would just prefer that I pick it out and tell them where to get it. I have showed them a few different ones on line that I like and they have all given me their opinions. Now it's up to me to decide on one that I think they will all like and look good in.
Good luck!

Re: BM Dress Shopping: Your Experiences
I only took my MOH. I decided on a designer and a color and I'm letting them pick their own dresses. We're going to TRY to all go together just for fun in January. Most of them have been flagging dresses on the web so they know what they want to try on.

Re: BM Dress Shopping: Your Experiences
I took my MOH with me. She tryed on about 8 to 10 dresses and found the one!!!!
I have been in many weddings and everytime the bride picked the dress and I thought that was fine.

Re: BM Dress Shopping: Your Experiences
I have a small BP just my sis (MOH) and friend (BM), it was great. I picked a color I thought I'd like, and let them pull dresses. The hard part was my BM is like a size 2 and my sis is a size 8, so my sis was trying on the bigger sizes and friend the smaller, they were swimming on both of them. The dress we got was my sis tried on first, as soon as she walked out of the dressing room, I knew that was the one. I think it was the first dress they pulled, but wound up on the back of the pile.

Re: BM Dress Shopping: Your Experiences
I went with them one at a time, basiclly becuae I let hem each chose thier dress & did not want girls fighting over who got to wear what. It was a logistical nightmare....especially since 2 of my girls do not live in NY (one lives in Ireland!!!) but we managed to get it done. It goes relatively smoothly if you have an idea of what you want before you go to the shop.

I took my MOH (my sister) to pick out dresses. She picked out the dress for the BMs.

Re: BM Dress Shopping: Your Experiences
This is a good post...... I think out of the whole planning process this was the most stressful. My BP is small (1 MOH & 2 BM) all of which have such different body shapes and taste in clothing. After many visits to stores they finally picked out what they wanted. I truly feel that since they are paying for it they should at least like the dress they're wearing so i let them pick the place and their individual dresses as long as they were uniform in color.
My BP would have wore anything i picked but i gave them the option to pick something (obviously with my final approval).

Nora - do a search for Niecey and LisaT. They were both very helpful to me when I was researching having the bms in different dresses. They did that with their bridal parties.
