BM dress ... To pay or not to pay ... That is the question
Hey girls! So I have been in one bridal party and the bride was awesome enough to pay for our dresses. But now that I am a bride I realize how expensive paying for all the girls dresses might be.
What do you think? Should I pay? Is that the norm? (I really don't know what the norm is) Or do I just pay for hair and make-up and let them pay for the dress?
I really appreciate your help!

You are not obligated to pay for the dress, hair or makeup for your BP
Though it is really great if you could you are not required
I am not paying for this any of my girls

If you can afford it, it's a nice gesture... how many girls will you have?
I talked about the budget with each one of my girls and they agreed that $200 was a fair price for a dress including the alterations, but if i were to fall in love with a dress for them that is more expensive I dont mind paying the difference...
Definitely no obligation though! But when you're picking out dresses that you would like for them to wear, keep the budget in mind... Our girls have a lot on their plates so affordable dresses are appreciated :)

I've never really heard of the bride paying for the dress until i joined this site. i have always known that if you agree to be a bridesmaid its understood that you have to buy your own dress.
Its a nice gesture to pay for hair and make up if you can but you dont have to and i dont think they should expect you to. i am paying for my girls make up but they are paying for everything else

im not paying for their dress, hair or makeup.....just their jewlery and i go tthem tote bags and makeup cases

Ive never heard of the bride payin for their BM's dresses. Thats an AWESOME gesture but I would say the norm is not payin. Ive paid for the BM dresses for the weddings ive been in along with the cost to make alterations.

I have heard this on very few occasions. I definitly would not feel obligated at all. I think most BM assume they will be paying for their own dresses anyway.

I was in a wedding last year where the Bride payed for all our dresses and day of jewlery as our bridesmaid gift!

Honestly before this website I never heard of people paying for anything for the bridal party. MAYBE hair as a gift, but in my opinion they would get their hair done anyways and if it were me, i'd rather the gift be something I wasn't planning on buying myself regardless.

I don't know anyone who's paid but if you can afford it that's awesome. I can't afford it but if I could I would.

It would be hard to pay for all the BM (there are 7 of them). But since I have only been in one wedding I wasn't sure how it all worked.
