BM Dresses

BM Dresses

SO My wedding planning went horribly for the first few months. I tried to have my wedding at one of teh North Fork Vineyards and they 'disapeared' during contract negotiations. And I finally changed the whole wedding and moved it to my hometown in Ct and I finally was starting to get things done. I kept getting pressured to pick a bridemaids dress which I did and I love it. Now my sister, my MOH tells me she doesn't like the dress and that it is nothing special and that she'll wear it because its my wedding but she doesn't like it.

The wedding is this July and my dress is made from raw silk which is light and airy.

I chose the Diana dress from Ann Taylor in black and the girls were going to have red flowers in their hair and carry red Gerber daisys. (the wedding colors are black, white and red because we are throwing a Latin flair to it)

I'm absulutely crushed and feel that I made a bad choice and I don't know what to do.

It doesn't matter what your sister thinks, it's your wedding. People are going to give you opinions whether you want them or not and sometimes it's hard not to take it to heart. It sounds like you really love the dress and have a picture in your mind of what your bridal party is going to look like, don't let a negative comment ruin that.

I totally agree.

I think the dress is gorgeous - if she's willing to wear it, that's great. She should keep her opinion of it to herself, though.

I have worn dresses I've loved and dresses I've hated in bridal parties -- but I've never made comments to the bride if I didn't like what she picked. I really wouldn't worry about it. Tell her she's voiced her opinion, you heard her, and you disagree. Then ask her to stop repeating the same thing - You GET IT, but you're not changing your mind.

dont sweat it....my sisters (moh's) dont like the dress i picked and it became a HUGE issue for us- we had a big argument but now we're all ok. im ok wtih the fact that they dont love it, they are showing more enthusiasm for the dress that they dont love....meeting in the middle. but let me tell you- i KNOW what your feeling....they m ade my life miserable for a couple months regarding the STUPID DRESS!!!

Re: BM Dresses

Thanks everyone. I'm starting to feel better. I'm just so tired of soooo many people having OPINIONS about my day!! I just don't get it and I was shocked that my sister would even say anything and VERY DISSAPOINTED in her. Oh well.

You guys are the best! I always know I can count on LIW!!

I think the dress you chose, plus the whole look your going for, is elegant and classy. You have wonderful taste! do not let one comment discourage you from picking out the look you want on your day!

It is your wedding, they really don't have a say unless you let them choose. But I love the dress. I think it is gorgeous

Im gonna tell you the same thing EVERY has been telling me since I started this wedding planning.....................
(now if I can only practice what I preach)

You cant please everyone. Its YOUR wedding, do what YOU want. If you listen to other people and end up not doing what you want then you'll regret it.

I agree with everyone else! My sister is my MOH and wasn't crazy about the dress I picked either. Then my mom got involved and told me I was inconsiderate for not taking my sister dress shopping with me (hello, she lives 10 hours away and we only see each other once a year, it's a little difficult!). I had to tell my mom that my sister isn't the one getting married, I am!

I'm sure it'll work out fine in the end, and the dress is beautiful!

Hi!
I don't post too often, but just wanted to say that I have the same BM dresses in espresso for a October wedding. I think they're beautiful and if you love them, then you shouldn't let it bother you. There is nothing for her not to like...its simple and elegant (jmo) and in black-she can totally get use of it again which is such a plus!!!!
