BM Dresses

BM Dresses

SO My wedding planning went horribly for the first few months. I tried to have my wedding at one of teh North Fork Vineyards and they 'disapeared' during contract negotiations. And I finally changed the whole wedding and moved it to my hometown in Ct and I finally was starting to get things done. I kept getting pressured to pick a bridemaids dress which I did and I love it. Now my sister, my MOH tells me she doesn't like the dress and that it is nothing special and that she'll wear it because its my wedding but she doesn't like it.

The wedding is this July and my dress is made from raw silk which is light and airy.

I chose the Diana dress from Ann Taylor in black and the girls were going to have red flowers in their hair and carry red Gerber daisys. (the wedding colors are black, white and red because we are throwing a Latin flair to it)

I'm absulutely crushed and feel that I made a bad choice and I don't know what to do.

I personally like it. IF she feels like it is too plain they offer sashes to add something to it.... it is always an option. But Its your wedding what do u like and feel good about

OK, so she doesn't like it. How many times has any of us been in a wedding and they didn't like the BM dress?! But as part of the BP you go along with it. I personally think the dress is beautiful. Yes, it is simple, but I think that is what makes it so elegant. And because it's so simple and elegant, you can add beautiful touch (ie - the flowers in the hair) that will enhance it. I'm sure it will all be beautiful when it all comes together.

I am so sorry though that you are having a tough time. Hang in there. We're all here if you need to vent. I am confident that on your wedding day you will look beautiful and glow with happiness and in the end that is all that matters!!

I agree with Valerie. There have been plenty of weddings where the BMs didnt like the dresses the bride choose..but you live with it. I love the dress...but yknow what, its YOUR wedding..and its what YOU want. So dont stress it too much...

I love the dress! I think it is gorgeous! My bms are b*tching too but I ignore it.. No one will ever be 100% happy. The best you can do is choose what makes YOU 100% happy!!

i also like the simplicity of the dress. that makes it that much more elegant (mo). her duty is to wear the chosen dress and not stress the bride...

I think the dress is beautiful and with flowers, and jewlery, it will be perfect. Don't let her upset you, she will see when she is wearing it.

So your sister is complaining? It's just part of the job description! .
I think the dress is gorgeous and the whole look you are describing is just so chic and elegant. Your sister will adjust. What did she want, plunging neckline and sparklies?? Most BM's would be thrilled you chose a dress they can look classy in and maybe even wear again!

Your day, your choice, it's beautiful, don't second-guess it!

that is pretty! Don't worry, its your wedding! You never know, she might change her mind. You are the one who should be happy about your wedding!

Re: BM Dresses

i personally am not a fan of that dress either (JMO) BUT whether or not she likes it, doesnt make a difference. Its YOUR wedding and she should suck it up and wear it for a day. I've been in weddings where I wasnt thrilled with the dress, but I never complained, I wore it with a smile because I wanted the bride to be happy. In end, its only one day to her. But its a lifetime of memories to you -- everytime you look at your pictures you're going to see your beautiful self and your beautiful BMs -- so YOU need to be in love with the dress, not them. And it sounds to me like you are in love with it. So, dont second guess your decision and tell her to deal with it.
