I have 8 girls in my BP- 3 of which are out of state. I was wondering if any of you ordered your BM dresses from differnt places. if so, were the dresses differnt colors?
Is it important to get them from the same dye lot? No one will give me a straight answer

Re: BM Dresses
I can tell you that yes, they need to be dyed at the same time in order to assure that the same dye lot is used and the color is exact. However, I know many of people who had out of state people order dresses from places by them and the colors were fine. If there is the slightest variation, I'm sure the naked eye can't even tell. Just make sure they are ordering from a good, reputable place I guess.

Re: BM Dresses
Most will order all dresses together from the same place so that the colors are exact. My dresses were all ordered at the same time and the color of my BMs dresses and my MOH were different colors. They are sooo close in color that you only way you could tell was holding them on top of each other and looking at them in the right light. When they all stood together you could not tell the difference.
If you are worried about it you can always have them measured, order them at one place and ship the dresses to the girls who are out of state. I did this-one of my BMs was out of state and it cost me about 15 to ship it to her UPS

Hi girls.

You should order them from the same source at the same time to assure that they will be in the same dye lot and arrive at the same time. If they happen to fall in different dye lots, slight differences may be visible in pictures or even to the naked eye. Besides, do you want to deal with multiple retailers, who might have different pricing, return, and shipping policies for the orders?
I'm not in NY and I had five BMs. Two were in NY, one was in NC, and two were in my home state. Bridal salons, both brick and mortar and Web-based, deal with far-flung BMs all the time.
I ordered my BM dresses from Pearl's Place, which is in Louisiana. Get the out of state BMs to have their measurements taken at a seamstress or tailor local to them and match it up with the corresponding size for that manufacturer. The B&M shop or Web shop should provide this for you.
Good luck!

Re: BM Dresses
From my experience dont order from different places!!! When the order is placed by the bridal salon the dresses all get made from the same sample of fabric to ensure no color variations.....if it doesnt bother you then you can certainly order from other places, but if you want the colors to match 100% then the order has to all be placed from the same store.....maybe they can pay a fee to be measured by the bridal salon by them and then just fax you their measurements???? I know one of my friends had to do that with a groomsman and their tuxes.

Re: BM Dresses
I don't know what quality each different designer can offer. I can tell you that for my wedding, we had 2 OOT BMs and 2 OOT Jr BMs. All the OOT girls ordered their dresses from their hometown. To be COMPLETELY honest, it is NOT visible in the photos. And I didnt even see a difference in person! The BMs dresses were Lazaro irridescent taffeta and the Jr BMs were Jim Hjelm taffeta. The color was Aqua, the Jr BMs were a little bit lighter than the BMs, but to be expected by diferent designers....let me see if I can find a photo....
This is one of all the girls in the back of the church b4 walking in. The one on he far right (MOH) was one of the OOT BMs, the two next to her are the OOT Jr BMs. The BM 2nd from the left is the other OOT BM.
This is 3 of my BMs. The 1 on the left and 1 in the middle are OOT BMs.

Re: BM Dresses
Holy Cow! I never even thought of that. My maid of honor lives in a different state, but my other two bridesmaids are here. I just assumed the maid of honor would order the dress by her -- so alterations would be easier. Though I guess since she is the maid of honor, if her color is a little different it might even look intentional. Who knows...? Thank you for posting and I wish you luck making your decision.

Re: BM Dresses
I think it depends on the fabric of the dress. With chiffon, you definitely need to have them in the same dye lot. We all ordered our dresses for my brother's wedding from different places but they were satin and the color was the same on all of them. I have no idea about taffeta or silk! HTH
