BM Dresses

BM Dresses

Yesterday I finally picked out a bridesmaid dress! I am worried that I picked one that was a little too expensive. The dress cost $170 for a knee length Bill Levkoff dress. My bridesmaids said that it was fine but then my future sister in law said that it was really expensive. Is that too much?! I feel guilty if it is. How much did your BM bridesmaid dresses cost?

Mine cost that

That doesn't seem expensive at all. You can't be a bridesmaid and expect to pay less than that. The last wedding I was in, the dress was $220 and the dress I'm looking at for my girls is $215. I actually think your price is super fair. Being a bridesmaid is certainly expensive, but you should know that before you accept the honor.

Shop it around. My girls paid $160 for a long dress. Try Bridal Elegance or try to negotitate w/ the stores. If you have a decent # of girls you might be able to negotitate. All girls had to pay upfront but we saved $40-$50. I felt guilty having my girls spend a lot on a dress since they still had to do hair and makeup if they wanted.

You should check RK bridal. They carry most designers.

My girls got long Levkoff dressses (#777 and #775)...one was $175 and the other was $185 with a $60 cap on alterations. They ordered them through Burton's. The suggested retail was like $220 and $230.

My girls got a short bill levkoff & it is $209 before tax and they were fine with it.

I think that is the average cost. My BM dresses cost $190 and I added a bolero jacket that cost $49 so total cost was $239 before taxes. All my girls were fine with the cost. I am in my cousins bridal party and the cost for her dress was about the same.

That sounds average to me. My BM's dresses were less than that, but not by that much.

I paid 185 for the last wedding I was in and my girls dresses are 180 but they should be 15-20% off

Hopefully with the short dresses they won't need them altered and that will save $!

bridesmaids.com is what I will be using. They have a store in Manhattan that the girls can go to and order also. The prices are WAY better than any salon I went to. There were 2 long dresses I liked at salons near me and they were $264 & $208 but on this site they are $172 & $148.50.

This. My girls are all wearing different styles, same designer. The most expensive dress (long) was $200, but listed for $275 elsewhere. I went to the actual store- Here Comes the Bridesmaid and they were very helpful!

Mine cost $225 (but they were long dresses) and only one person complained about it, but I stuck to my guns. I think that it's fine. I paid $180 for short dresses when I was in wedding.

Unless the dress is $300+ I just can't believe that people complain. I would NEVER complain about the price of a bridesmaids dress (at least not to the bride).

That's a good price in my opinion, but def call around and see if you could find it cheaper. I got a floor length Dessy dress for my girls. I found it the cheapest at Here Comes the Bridesmaid (like $100 cheaper). My only beef with HCTB is that two of my dresses arrived damaged from the manufacturer and they had to reorder new ones. They never called to follow up with me. I had to call them multiple times and leave voicemails (they RARELY ever answer the phone). I would def recommend if you live or work in the city, otherwise try Bridal Elegance on LI.
