I really want to get my girls little pearl necklace/bracelet sets to go with their dresses for the doj. However, real pearls are WAY expensive. Can I get them fake pearls? I will get them something else to go with their gift, but is it OK to get them like costume-y jewelry?

Re: BM gift question
i think you should get them whatever you feel comfortable with, you know them better then us.
also watch out on overstock.com for pearls and sometimes macy's has really great deals.

Do you know what overstock's return policy is? I am always a little wary of buying jewelry online (just because I can never see exactly how it will look), but if I can return it, that might be a really great option--thanks!

Re: BM gift question
do you have a price range? there is this hawaiian jewelry store (i forget the name, but it begins with an 'n') and they have REALLY PRETTY stuff. pearls and pearl-like things.
they have a store in the queens center mall if you want to look in person...and if i remember the name, they also have a website
prices are pretty reasonable (75-125) for a nice necklace (thinkin about getting the moms something from them)....
and the store in teh mall usually has a pretty big clearance section too...
let me see if i can find the website...

Thanks for the link!
I am looking to spend around $75 per girl, but I didn't want the doj to be their ONLY gift.

Re: BM gift question
it is totally acceptable to get them costume jewelry. lots of hollywood stars wear costume jewelry...did you know that jackie kennedy NEVER wore real pearls, she always wore costume pearls. there are different grades of costume jewelry however. some are actually really expensive and others are mid-range or cheaper. if you want to see some nice costume jewelry i would go to qvc.com they have some nice stuff there that is mid-range price
