BM Gifts

What is everyone giving for BM gifts and how much are you spending?

I was going give them a little something and pay for hair and make up but @ $150 each for H&M Im thinking I would rather give them something that can remember the day by. BTW all of my BM have expensive taste.

I'm going to do DOJ...depending on how much I spend on that I'll see if I will add anything to it.

Re: BM Gifts

Can I make a suggestion without sounding rude. I have been a BM at least a dozen times. Whenever I recieve DOJ I think it is selfish on part of the bride that they are buying me jewelry that they want me to wear to match the dress I just spent $200 and will never wear either of them again. It costs a lot of money to be in someone else's wedding in which I can honestly say of all the people's wedding I've been in, I'm still friends with my sister's and 1 other friend. I am not in my 20's anymore so as time passes and people's life changes many friendships change, unless they are childhood friends.

The best BM gift I recieved was a Kate Spade cosmetic/evening bag.

I think a coach wristlet would be much more of an appreciated gift to your BMs.

I am in my late 30's and am not having any BM because at this age, the novelty has worn off and most friends have more important things to spend their money on then buying $300 dresses and doing H & M for my wedding. I prefer they put it towards their kids or home and they are appreciative of that as well.

If you want to give then a gift. Give them somthing they will use and appreciate, something they may not buy for themselves but actually want. Think about how much they spent to look good for you on your day and give them something back.

Re: BM Gifts

i like the idea of DOJ since the only thing besides dresses i am asking for to be uniform is the jewlery (hair and shoes BMs on own). Also, i am paying for DOJ that way BMs do not have to pay for it. That is just one thing i am giving- I plan to give much more to them and practical and sentimental gifts they will appreicate

Also a day of beauty at your friends salons. Not for day of wedding.

Make it personal and a gift they would like. Don't waste money on things they don't care for.

My sister is my MOH and she is not into jewelry or designer things at all. She does like tattoos, which I am not a fan of, but I will get her a gift certificate to get a tattoo and whatever she chooses to put on her body, it will be a rememberence that I gave it to her for being my MOH.

I got my girls DOJ and I sent them all 2 I liked and they all picked the same one and they said they could wear it again. DOJ could be worn again to other weddings or on a nice night out.

I also got them personalized tote bags, a purse for the night of the wedding, flip flops, and personalized makeup bags. My girls will be happy with whatever they get.

Re: BM Gifts

I got them their DOJ, a leather travel jewelry case, a cosmetic case with their monograms & juicy tube, I will probably also add a manicure, pedicure certificate for each of them as well

Re: BM Gifts

i got DOJ and small tote and note paper with their name, that i gave them when i asked them. i'm planning on paying for their hair as well. i've been debating if i should give them something else, like their flip flops or slippers for that night, but i did go a little overboard on the DOJ.

i do like the idea of the vera bradely or coach wristlet/tote. i love those things and if i didn't spend so much on DOJ, I might have gotten something like that too.

I got my BM's their day of jewelry, along with a beautiful jewelry box, matching compact & lipstick case (I had the compact and lipstick case engraved).

I got the compact and lipstick case from exclusivelyweddings.com.
The jewelry box was from americanbridal.com

Re: BM Gifts

I got them all a sterling silver necklace..each different to reflect their personalities.

I'm going to get my MOH earring for the Day of and then something else for each of them.

Nothing is for the day of except earring for my MOH. I'll probably get her a milion things since she's my little sis and I love her to death.

Re: BM Gifts

I found cute sterling necklaces that *i* like but got them for such a good price that they won't be the main part of their gift. I'm still a little unsure whether I want them to wear them, or whether they will just be part of their gift generally.

I like the idea of getting them all a wristlet/purse to use for the day of and in the future, but when I went to macy's to check out a few i was considering I couldnt find them or they looked awful in person.

i'm still looking around... hope to hit up the outlets.

Hmmm...I don't know about this. I would get my girls jewelry over a Coach wristlet, simply because my girls don't like Coach. I would get them jewelry that they could wear any time, not just day of. And I wouldn't insist on them wearing what I get them on the day of my wedding, only if they want to. I don't think its 'selfish' I think that is sort of harsh to say...do you really think someone buying a gift out of appreciation is a selfish act?????

I paid for my MOH dress and bought her David Yurman earrings.

I bought a Tiffany necklace for my BM.

I dont mean to sound rude. But im 33 and im having my 2 sisters as BMs My cousin who is like my sis & my bf. I happen to think that if people want BM's then what does age have to do with it? My girls already have children & homes. So does that make it a different case? NO i think that if people want to be apart of your day then they will accept & if they cant i feel as a goodfriend you would be able to say that. I also think its kind of rude to suggest that what people purchase for their BM's is not good enough. I happen to know alot of people who wear the DOJ again. I guess a tiffany heart necklace would only be worn once.?? But needless to say its SOOO not about the gifts at all. Its about sharing in your family or friend or whatever 's most special day. AND i think that everyone has different tastes & what they consider to be a special gift. So Im sorry if im coming off rude but i surely disagree with this post!
