BM Hair & Makeup gift Question

Are there any Brides paying for their BM Makeup or Hair? If so how are you giving them this gift, are you just giving them money or are you making up a nice Gift Certificate for them?

I'm just paying for it. I guess it's part of what I'm doing for them, but i'm not presenting it to them as a gift, per say

I never in a million years thought of asking them to pay for it themselves... can I do that??? OMG it would make my life so much easier if I didn't have to pay all the Hair and Makeup.

You certainly don't have to pay for your bridal party's make up or hair. But keep in mind that if you dont offer to pay for it you can't necessarily expect and probably shouldnt IMO require them to get theirs done professionally. If pretty much leave it up to their descretion.

As far as how to present the gift-- in my experience- usually the bride will say, for anyone who wants to get their hair and/or make up done by XYZ person who is doing the brides hair/makeup as well.. these are the details for where to be when and it is my treat. Otherwise you can ask each girl where they are planning on getting it done and get a gift cert to there but it will probably be too complicated,

I'm doing my own makeup, so I am def not requiring anyone else to have it professionally done.

As far as hair goes, I don't really know. I don't think you are required to pay for their hair. I think when someone accepts the offer to be an MOH or BM, they know they aren't going to be able to show up with a rat tail or something, you know?

I'm not even asking them to purchase special shoes to go with their dresses... I don't care if they don't wear makeup or whatever they want. I just wanted them to feel pampered and part of the spirit of the day, which is totally why I thought I was going to pay for everything.

This has opened up a new world.

My new goal has been to find someone for my hair and makeup who will for a nominal fee also do eyes for everyone. So far the quotes are a zillion times more reasonable and I'm very happy.

I'm still in between on whether or not I'm going to pay a portion or the whole thing, but either way I'm going to make up a gift certificate.

Depending on what my finances look like, I'd like to pay for at least their makeup, maybe both.

BUT with that said, that's an extra courtesy I'm offering. It's usually assumed when you agree to be a BM that you'll at least pay for your own hair, makeup is often optional. When I was a BM for my best friend, I paid my own hair and makeup and never even questioned it.
