BM Help!

BM Help!

I need you advice ladies. I have a BM, who I was really close with, and I was in her wedding a little over a year ago. When I got enaged in March I asked her to be a BM and she was so excited and said that she was so glad I asked. More recently I said that I knew that she was busy being married now and working so if she didn't want to do it, I would be ok, and she said that she wanted to do it. But I never hear from her, and I've only seen her once since I've gotten enaged. She also has not returned my phone calls. I am really just unsure of what to do. I want my BM's to be girls that I'm close with and people that will be in my life forever, and we seem to be drifting apart. Like I said the times that I do talk to her she says she wants to be a BM but I'm just unsure now. Sorry so long, but I need some advice, also we are supposed toget the BM dresses next weekend, and I haven't heard back from her for that either. I don't expect my wedding tobe everyone else priority, but I do want my friends to have some interest. TIA Ladies and any advice would be appreciated!

Re: BM Help!

well I had a similiar situation with one of my girls. We were friends since we were born, but she lives upstate so its hard for her to just come down. My friend had just started a teaching job and took in a 15 year old girl so she has her hands full!! She wasn't answering my emails or calls and I was starting to worry. She finally got in touch with me and apologized for dropping off the face of the earth!! But she had so much going on it was hard for her to respond. Your friend may just be genuinely busy especially if she is planning her own wedding.

one of the girls at the 09 shower (thanks jess!!) told me to try to get in touch with her one more time and just make the call about her. Tell her you want to make sure everything is ok because its not like her to just not respond.........thats what I did and thats when she finally called me back!! So thats the little bit of advice I could fwd on to you! GL!!

Re: BM Help!

Maybe she's waiting for you to give her an out? Unfortunately, it's a fact of life that sometimes friends drift apart. I've been in 2 wedding parties where now I'm not friendly with the girls anymore and so have all of my girlfriends. It's not like we had a fight, it's just that over time, everyone changes and people drift. If I saw either one of the 2 girls now, I would be thrilled but they're just not part of my daily life anymore. It's sad but it happens. I think that's one of the reasons that I didn't want a big bridal party - just my 2 sisters.

I think the best way to handle this is to be totally honest with her. Say, 'I really want you to be part of my day, however, I understand if you don't want to do it for whatever reason' Give her the out and get some honest dialog going.

Good luck.

Re: BM Help!

first off im sorry u r going through this ..my advice would be i would call or email or whatever one last time to remind her about the dresses and say in the message if she does not pick up,'if i do not hear from u b4 we go for the dresses then i will take it as a sign u do not want to be a bm,i would love u to be in but i need someone i can depend on so i understand either way.sometimes u have to give a little ultimatum otherwise u might never get the answer u need..hth good luck
