I haven't been posting in a while. My job roll has changed at work (for the better), but it has been keeping me very busy and I miss you all soo terribly. The main reason for my post is is my bridesmaids are at it again. I posted a while back that I found a dress I fell in love with and that they all agreed and liked it. Well, we went to go try it on/buy it and I find out that one BM will not fit into the dress at all. I was upset, but I saw that she was upset because she knew it was her fault we couldn't get that dress. I know its hard to lose weight, so I am not going to say anything about that. When I went to check other places, like Alfred Angelo and Emme based on her measurements, it seems like none of those dresses will fit her either yet she wears normal everyday clothes and is only a 24. Is this possible? why do dress makers do this? I'm at my wits end and my wedding is only 7 months away, no BM dresses and I don't know what to do. Any ideas??

Re: BM Serious Help Needed
I too have a plus size bridesmaid who will have a problem ordering the dress we chose. It is a bill levkoff and even the largest size will not accomodate her. I will order more dress material so the seamstress can add 'panels' to the dress to make it bigger. See if your original choice dress will give you the option of ordering more material to add to the dress. Good luck!!!

HMMM....Do you know a good seamstress? It might be possible to get them to order you just the fabric from the dress and have a seamstress try to duplicate the design.
Have you thought about letting her wear a different dress in the same color? Would that work?

Did anyone notice that the sizes were off?? LIke I know she tried on a few dresses and she could fit into a david's bridal dress, but this bridal shop told her no. I'm confused by this and a little outraged. I do know a seamstress I'm thinking of contacting just to recreate the dress if it's at all possible. I dont know if she would need to order the dress to begin with, or can she do it from scratch. I guess I just have to find out.. Thanks for the tips

Re: BM Serious Help Needed
I'm a plus size bride and had this problem with my sister's wedding. The seamstress just ordered the fabric and made my dress and not for too much more than what the original dress cost. It was a Bill Levkoff dress.
Thankfully, I'm not having that same problem with my wedding dress. My dress is an Alfred Angelo.
I work in the Fashion Industry as a merchandiser and for some reason the Bridal designers insist on sizing down. If you're normally an 8 they will tell you to order a 10 or 12.
It's crazy I know, I don't know they do it.
I'm not sure where you're looking for dresses but if you need any advice on places to go FM and I'll try to help you!

If she is a size 24 in reg. clothing I can't even imagine what BM dress size that would be. I don't know why they make them so small! A friend of mine who is a size 4 had to buy a size 8 dress when she was a BM. it's rediculous! I think they do it so they can charge more for the sizes.

My MOH is plus sized as well AND just had a baby. We were able to order a dress by Jordan (lovely) and it also looks great on my sister who wears a size 6.

Re: BM Serious Help Needed
I have a dress maker in Whitestone that may be able to copy the dress that you want. I have seen her work and it is amazing. See if you can call the dress company and by the same lot fabric from them and and then you can bring it to her. If you need more info, FM me and I will give you her #. She is amazing. She is doing all my alterations for my dress, my mom's and all my brides maids.....
YOU CAN GET THIS DONE>...

YES! The dress sizes are off. My girls are in Bill Levkoff as well and my friend who is a size 2 was a size 6 in the dress. My friend who is a size 8 was a size 12 in the dress- i felt so bad, she looked at me and goes 'I think I will run home, meet you there'. LOL If anything they should make them run SMALLER so women feel better dress shopping!!!
I would see about ordering extra material. I have a plus size as well, but she was able to get a 24 in the dress.
