BM vent

BM vent

hi girls. just need to vent about one of my BMs.
i think i'm more hurt than angry. i have 4 bridesmaids- the 2 who are ' in charge' are my MOH sister ( who is in college AND works AND has student teaching coming up) and my best friend 'lucy' , who i've known since we were 8. lucy has 3 degrees and doesn't work ( just sits at home watching her 3 year old cousin), and is getting married in august. her fiance makes a lot of money, so i think she is counting on never using her college degree... but thats a whole other story.
so anyway... lucy is getting married in august, and i am a BM in her wedding so we have been planning her shower for this saturday. i have made 40 chocolate flower lollipops, planted plants in mini terra cotta pots for the favors, helped with the guest list, etc etc etc... which is fine, thats what friends and BMs do.
but... the other day i hear my mom printing something on her 15 year old printer- the kind you can only feed one page at a time to... turns out its my shower invites... now... lucy has a great computer set up at her house with laser printer, etc etc... and has time everyday while her little cousin is taking a nap.. .why the hell isn't she printing the invitations?!??!! my mom SHOULD NOT have to be involved in this!!! for her shower, we spent a lot of time coming up with the invites and they were soooo cute... mine are just a plain peice of paper with the info on them.... i am just a little hurt that lucy is so self centered that she can't help out with this. i wouldn't be so upset, but i know she has the time because she doesn't work!!! she is the kind of person whos parents have always paid for EVERYTHING- she has no responsiblity to anyone but herself!!! its just really hurtful when i put a lot into something and shes not doing the same for me.
anyway... i know this is long, but i just really need to vent. thanks for listening

Re: BM vent

Sorry you have to deal with this. You are awesome for being the better person and doing what you can for her. It will all come back to you tenfold!

Re: BM vent

Please don't be offended, but I'm in a similar situation - my MOH doesn't work, and leaves a lot of the work on my other BM's and my family, but in the end....so, I really think that you should take a step back and cool off for a bit. She's your friend for a reason, and that's why you chose her to be your BM. It just seems that you're very angry with her, and there's a tad bit of jealousy thrown in. I think you should find out the facts first - whether your mom wanted and chose to do the invitations, why your friend isn't partaking as much as you expect her to. You should have a BM meeting and go through their responsibilities. Don't assume everything. JMO.

I agree with you that it seems like your friend isn't willing to help out at all. I am having the same problem. I have two MOH (my two sisters one who is in another country and won't be back for at least another week and the other that lives 6 hours away. My two bms (both old friends) one lives 20 mins from me and the other in the city. Well my sister that lives upstate (6hrs away) and my mom are the only two people who have offered to help me with anything! my bm that lives close is always 'too busy' which is true she is very busy, but come on you can't find an hour to go shopping wht me? and my other bm is also very busy. The fact is neither of them are that much more busy than my sister who drives 6 hours so she can be here and help me! I'm a little hurt by this also. I thought this was something to share with friends and it is like they want noting to do with it! I don't even ask them to do anytnhing!!@! I never have, but when I say what needs to be done or that I need help they don't offer. They instead say how busy they are.
I'm not even looking for help, but just for my freinds to actually want to share this experience with me.

sorry about venting on your post. I feel your pain and if u feel comfortable with it then I think you should talk to them and explain their duties. I don't feel comfortable with that and don't wnabt to start a fight so I'm not even going to bring it up.
Good luck and let us know how it goes if u speak to them.

Re: BM vent

just my take:

if i was lucy- it wouldnt be obvious to me to pick up the slack for your sister

i would defer to her because shes the family member in charge...even though shes busy, shes the main person since shes the moh

It's such a shame that your BMs are giving you a hard time. It's ok to vent, that's what we're here for. You def need to talk to her and see if she's even aware of what she's doing to you. She might be so self-centered that she doesn't even realize it. Don't ruin such a long lasting friendship over this, try to work it out and make the best of things. That's all I can suggest for now! Hope it gets better!

Re: BM vent

that s*@ks!! maybe you can talk to your sister and have her get lucy moving??

i have a friend like that too and thatis why i DIDN'T ask her to be my MOH- and i'm not having BM's.

as far as your mom- i know you feel bad but your mom loves you and i'm sure she is happy to help

good luck!
