BM vent

okay, all of my BM's are on board for Vegas for the bachlorette party except for the one who just had a baby (undertandable) and one of my good friends/ college roomate. The friend who isn't committing (and has basically said she won't commit to anything out of town) is saying her reasons are that she doesn't have anyone to watch her dog and that she has 2 other weddings this summer. Mind you, the bachelorette party is like 6 months away and we live in Manhattan where it is easy to find a dog sitter.

The other girls have given her a ton of different options in terms of places to go and she is shooting down everyone one of them and basically saying to do it without her and she'll throw me one in the city.

The only reason why I found out about it is because my MOH didn't know if I would want to go forward anyway without her.

This particular friend has a history of letting me down and I was on the fence about even asking her to be in the bridal party. However, due to the length of time we have been friends/roomates I asked her.

I know this girl well, and I know she is just wiggling out of it because she doesn't want to go for whatever reason. I am just mad because I know I will have a good time without her there but I don't know if I can get past this. I know that I would do everything in my control to be at her bachelorette party if she was engaged.

Okay, just had to get this out of my system because I am so mad

I think you should just go and let her throw you a night out when you guys get back...don't let it ruin a moment of your time.

I went to a bachelorette party in Vegas and I wasn't even in the BP...I think only 2 of the girls there were actually in it. People could't or didn't want to go for whatever reasons...no worries!

I agree with Snickers. Don't worry too much about it. Let the others have your party in Vegas, and she will miss out on the fun!

ugh- i have the exact same problem. all my bmaids want to do a weekend away, but one. she's been raining on my wedding parade the whole planning process. i've resolved to make plans with or without her. if she misses out its her own fault, i'm tired of stressing over her.
go ahead & enjoy yourself with your other friends. when she gets married some day she'll realize what its like to be the bride...

Speaking as a former bride and now a bridesmaid, destination bachelorette parties aren't always easy for people to do. Some may have obligations and just can't get away;or maybe they don't have the money and just are embarrassed to say so. For my bachelorette party I had a bridesmaid not be able to go for personal reasons and I didn't get mad or upset.....if they can't go they just can't go. I would never hold it against someone because they obviously believe their reasons are valid. For my sister's bachelorette party we are going to FL. At first I was against this because it is a lot of money but luckly I found a way around it. (my cousin is a flight attendant and I can fly for really cheap!!) Had I not been able to go I would hope that my sister would have understood just like I would have had she not been able to come to mine. I know as brides we want the world to revolve around us.....but sometimes it just can't.

i hear you. i get the feeling its not as though you would be upset if you knew she REALLY couldn't afford it......its just when its LAZINESS that is preventing her from going that you are annoyed about.

the other thing i hate is when people are like, i'll have one for you afterwards. i understand people are well-meaning, but to be completely honest - i'm not going to have the time!
