BM's paying for shower...

BM's paying for shower...

My friend is in a bridal party in which she and other bm's are throwing the shower. She is spending a lot of $$ and is not going to be getting the bride another gift. She knows that a few of the other BM's are getting the bride something small. What do you suggest she writes in her card to let the bride know that she (and the other bm's) threw the shower? (instead of her mom)...

TIA

2 suggestions:

Maybe if she feels left out, she can go in together on a inexpensive gift with the other girls( as opposed to the other girls getting individual gifts) she'd come out cheaper.

If she has already shelled out all she can afford on the shower.... maybe she can say:

' It is truly my honor to be apart of your speacial day as a bridal party member. Throwing your shower was the least I could do to say thank you for the privilege...enjoy your day!'

IDK?!

is it going to say on the invitation who threw the shower, if so just leave it at that. I wouldn't write in a card pointing out that she contributed money towards the shower.

the invite does no say who is paying, and it lists her mom as the rsvp person. It's kind of a touchy subject! She's shelled out more than she thought she would and can't spend anymore. She doesn't want the bride to think that she did not get her a gift...because the shower is her gift! She doesn;t want to sound weird in the card, either...i'm not sure what to suggest, although i like the first idea.

I understand your friend's predicament, but I'd be careful about writing something in the card. Sometimes tone is lost with the written word and it may come across as being snarky. If she's concerned that the bride will think less of her if there's no separate gift, she could pull her aside and mention that she would have liked to have gotten her something in addition to the shower, but just couldn't afford it. I'm sure the bride will understand.

i agree, you never know how somebody will take it so its better to say it in person. If she is her bm then obviously they are good friends and should be able to be open with eachother. I am sure she will understand

She can do what my BM did to me for my shower...

Call her the next day and tell her, 'We spent alot, ALOT of money on your shower, and the rules go that if the BP pays for the shower, then the BMs dont get the bride a gift.' BTW I didnt even ask her about a gift.

If your friend has normal social skills, then I would just have her give her a card and say something cute like, 'I hope I was able to help give you the shower of your dreams. Much love and happiness to you and FH.' or something along those lines.
