My daughter's BM's gowns don't come with shawls. Instead of ordering them separately at $80 each (we need 8), we are going to buy matching fabric from Lazaro, and I am going to sew them. I need to get measurements for shawls. We were thinking 15 by 72 inches the most. Because the fabric is a rather heavy taffeta, if they are too wide they will bunch up a lot. The salesgirl said we could even make them 9 inches wide and have them lay flat on their shoulders and upper arms. I'm afraid that may look too skimpy. What do all of you think?

Re: BM's shawls...what size are yours?
We ended up buying our from Adriannes and since I am in michigan I haven't seen them yet but my mother picked them up and said they were a perfect size - I will tell you that Vera Wang shawls are 2 1/2 yards (which is about 7 feet right?) VW says that is a standard size - but I think that is a little big

order from shawlsetc.com. If you order 10 they are $19 each. They are faux pashminas but I heard they are so softa nd comfortable! if you order less than 10 they are $25. not bad!

Ordering them ready made would be sooo easy, but we thought since the dress was two toned, we didn't want to introduce another shade or fabric. Since the manufacturer of the dress sells extra yardage, we'll order 4 yards and depending upon the width, I'll make 8. Thanks everyone.
