Re: Body Rock DJ
I saw them at a Jericho Terrace Bridal showcase and I thought they were awful. They were kinda obnoxiously loud, and they were pulling people out of their seats trying to get them to dance. I don’t know how you feel but I don’t want my family & friends being made to feel uncomfortable. Also one of their MC’s kept making believe he was shooting a fictional bow & arrow….. ..I was like ***!!! Needless to say even though they are one of the house vendors at Jericho Terrace, I will not be using them.

Re: Body Rock DJ
My friend from work got married last friday and used them. She said they were great, however everyone likes different stuff. Their website was a little cheesy to me.

I am using them. I saw them at the Watermill showcase and thought they were very energetic and got the crowd going. Every bride has their own taste and it was important for me having a very interactive DJ to get the crowd up and dancing.
Also, I know 4 girls that used them for their weddings and raved about them.

Re: Body Rock DJ
I've only seen them at showcases and HATED the way they acted. We met with three other DJ's at that showcase. The others took the time to talk and well...sell their company. The people at Body Rock were obnoxious. They acted as if they were 'too good' to give us any information. We were told to 'call and set up an appt'. Another friend of mine saw them at a showcase also and the guy behind the table was too busy talking on the phone to give her the time of day and said a rude remark. She counted them out immediately. I will say that I did get a cold call from them because they were a hall recommended vendor. The girl was wonderful and when I told her what happened at the showcase she seemed genuinely concerned. Unfortunately she's not the DJ/MC.

Re: Body Rock DJ
Was not crazy about them. We got a cold call from them because they're a house vendor. We told the guy at our appt that we prefer a laid back DJ, not someone who will be in everyone's faces pulling them up or trying to coax them to dance. And what does the guy do?? Show us some video of their DJs doing exactly what we didn't want!!! All that 'pump it up, pump it up, everyone gets your hands together now' stuff was not for us.
The other thing that irked me was that they could not have us meet the person who would be our DJ the day of. I guess they just pass out the jobs that day.
I will add however, if your guests are the type that need motivating to get on the dance floor, then by all means check them out. We have a dancing bunch of guests, as long as the music is right, so for us, this was not a requirement.

Re: Body Rock DJ
We met with them and pretty much knew when we walked out they weren't an option. Just not our style..you can't put down another recommended vendor in our meeting for 'being too Bar Mitzvah/Sweet 16-like' and then show us a video with guests playing Limbo. Also it was important for us to know who the MC would be and they said they'd pick him for us. We didn't like that.
Just my opinion.

Re: Body Rock DJ
we booked them and had a good experience - and now i'm nervous from all these comments. i heard nothing but great things about them before i got on these boards - so I don't know. everyone has different tastes - FH and I want laid back, low key music and we only booked a DJ - no MC. We'll see what happens

Re: Body Rock DJ
I didn't like them personally. But I guess it depends on what you're looking for. My friend used them and they were just kind of ALWAYS on the mic and all over the place. - SHE wanted that so she thought they were great, I thought they were kind of annoying - But I don't like that kind of 'in your face' type of DJ The music was great though, we danced the whole night. Fun Wedding -

Re: Body Rock DJ
I'm shocked at all of these reactions. Both my brother and cousin used them, and you wouldn't even know there was an MC there. My brother had an afternoon wedding and the dance floor was packed the entire time. My cousin, KL805, just used them in Aug for her Sat night wedding at the Watermill, and again, very little (to no) DJ/MC interaction, yet the dance floor was packed. Needless to say, we booked them after 2 great experiences b/c we were afraid of getting a DJ who would be too obnoxious. We asked for the same MC again, and found them to be nice and reasonable.

Re: Body Rock DJ
I was totally turned off by my first meeting with them. The managers attitude was weird. I knew when I left I wouldn't book them. Then my feelings were confirmed when I saw them at a wedding. They were just OK. The MC was trying to be the 'Life of the party' not my style.

Re: Body Rock DJ
As far as crowd interaction, that depends on the couple's preference. From what I've heard about them, everyone says they are awesome. So they're a little cocky that doesn't necessarily have anything to do with their work. A vendor can sweet talk me all they want and their work can be horrible. As long as they play the music I told them and get the party going, I am a happy bride. Moreover, you can opt to not have those 'sweet sixteen' aspects of a wedding. No giveaways, no limbo, no congo line, no chicken dance, etc...You can have just standard wedding procedure, which I am.
PS I booked them and if they are cocky the day of my wedding, then they get no tip. Simple as that.

I have seen them at 2 weddings and got many referrals for them. We booked them for our wedding and had nothing but positive experiences with them. Everyone has their own taste I guess.

Re: Body Rock DJ
I went to a wedding with Body Rock last year. They were entertaining to a point. I thought there was too much cheese for my taste but the bride and groom loved them. They kept the crowd on the dance floor but to be honest this crowd would dance to talk radio if played loud enough!

You had Sergio?!
I used to know him when I lived on LI - GREAT GUY, really wonderful MC. I would've used Body Rock myself, but I would've wanted Sergio to MC and they wouldn't work with me on the price if I requested him. Apparently he's the best in the company. So, since I was friends with, oh, 8,000 other DJs I went with another company and had another one of my friends MC my party.
Still, I think Body Rock is a Great DJ company, well worth what they charge.
