Does anyone have any idea on a different way to do the BoK toss? I am an older first time bride. Most if not all of my guests will be older and also married. There may only be between 5 & 7 single women out of 140 guests at my wedding? I don't want to make anyone feel uncomfortable.
Does anyone have any other ideas about doing a BoK toss??? Would appreciate any other ideas.
I have a throw away BoK.....
Please...

I'm not having a bo-k toss b/c there arent any single girls coming. I am doing the anniversary dance instead. I will have a separate bo-k for that.

Re: BoK Toss....???
I did a 'fortune Bo-k' toss. Instead of one bo-k my florist made a bunch of individual bo-ks. (one or two roses with baby breath). On each mini bo-k I added a piece of paper with a fortune on it. I made them general enough for married/single/committed ladies. Then we had the dj ask every lady to come on the dance floor and I did the toss.
One tip, I spread the word about what I was doing before hand, so that my friends knew what was going on even if they didn't hear the dj.
There is a picture in my album.
I stole the idea from a post on here, and it originally was a Martha Stewart ide.

One photographer suggested to me that some brides are handing off the bouquet to another special woman at the reception as a symbol of what they mean to the bride.

One way I heard was to ask all the married couples to please stand. Those that have been married a year you say 'Congratulations and please take a seat', you then go to those married 5 yrs or less, then 10 yrs or less and go down the line. The last couple standing, which the couple married the longest, gets the bouquet.

Wow! I was going to go to sleep and answer you in the morning, then I reallized that your wedding is the weekend! How exciting! Good luck!!!
I don't remember all of them, but one said 'you will have a long romantic relationship', another said 'money will pour into your hands' I wanted to do some crazy ones, but I was afraid my older family members might not 'enjoy' those as much.
Thank you so much....I went to Martha Stewart.com after reading your reply. I will have to sleep on it as well.
Thanks again for the time and well wishes!!

I really don't want to do the traditional bo-k toss. Thanks for some new ideas.

Re: BoK Toss....???
I surprised my cousin who was in my mom's flowergirl decades ago. She is married with children who are old enough to get married. Her husband got the garter and put it on her leg.

I'm not doing a bo-k toss, and i'm also older.
Instead of a throw away bo-k, I asked my florist to make up a mini-version of mine and I will place that one on my mom's grave.
We have a couple attending that will be celebrating their 45th anniversary the same day. We have ordered a special presentation bo-k for the couple, and a small anniversary cake for them as well.
No garter toss either.

Re: BoK Toss....???
I'm going to do an 'anniversary dance'. They'll ask all the married couples to come to the dance floor and every so often the DJ will ask that the couple how has been married for under 1 yr please sit, 2 years please sit, etc. The last remaining couple who are dancing will receive the BoK. I think it's a nice little touch and it gets everyone involved.

That is what we are doing..... we will also give the couple the garter too.....

Re: BoK Toss....???
we tossed my bo-k and garter...but then we picked a fun song, and the girl and guy who caught it got to dance with me & DH :) it was cute & fun :) i've also seen where the DJ finds the longest married couple in the room and they get to bring home the bo-k. just some more ideas!

Re: BoK Toss....???
I did the anniversary dance and also gave my MOH/BFF my toss bok. I really wanted her to have it because she means so much to me and she is I think/hope almost at the point of getting engaged so the actually toss would have been staged because I planned on handing it to her anyway. Not to put her or her BF on the spot I gave it to her when she was at her table.

I think the anniversary dance perfect for your wedding considering that they will not be that many single people. I plan to do this. I remember at my sister's wedding when it cam time for the garter toss, they were no single men!
