I don't know of anything new but I really enjoyed Nelson deMille's Gold Coast.

This might be a stupid suggestion , but if you look up the books on Amazon (the ones he has read) you will usually get a list of 'what this person ALSO bought' So you would know what books are in that category that he might not have read..
Also, readers that review the books, suggest other books that they loved, and there are lists of 'similar titles' also...
Ive done this before, and it might work for you !

Has he read any of Lee Child's books - the first in the series is Killing Floor and the second is Die Trying?

I don't think he has - I'm passing all this along to him!
