Booked DUET last night!!!!!!!

After seeing 7 different photography studios, FI and I were AMAZED at Duet's service and quality of work for such a great price!

Although Imagine was VERY close to being the chosen one (their work is GORGEOUS and VERY artsy and photojournalistic)...they were $2000 MORE than Duet BEFORE tax and gratuity, and we liked Duet's video a little better than Imagine's, plus it wasn't as if Duet's quality was less than Imagine's, but their style is slightly more traditional...

Eric (the owner) was VERY sweet, accomodating, and willing to work with us on every detail. We told him we like a more photojournalistic style, so he had his photojournalist photographer there for us to meet(Alberto) So now we will have a more photojournalistic style to our photos....
AND we were able to upgrade to the new SOHO coffee table album which includes 50-60 images. AMAZING!
I definitely recommend that anyone who is looking for photo AND video for under $4k go see them!

They do film. I had asked about digital when I first met with them, and they told me the quality is much better with film. I'm not sure I agree with them on this one--the difference in quality is negligible--but Nicole told me that if I wanted them to shoot digital they would. I decided not to because if they're more comfortable with the film then that means better pictures. My dad just picked up my proofs last night and scanned a few to send to me (I've moved to London with DH) I'm itching to see them....can't wait. I've posted some on here, take a look if you'd like. They're pretty traditional, my mom didn't scan many photojourn ones, and this is only a small sampling!! There are about 600!!!

Also, I mentioned to Nicole that I wanted my negs after albums were done. She said no problem and wrote it into the contract...

There is no additional charge for their photojournalist. We have 2 photographers on the wedding day, AT NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE...it's actually part of the photo/video ackage for $3699!
One photog (Alberto) does all the candids and b&w's...he is the photojournalist...
The more traditional, posed portraits are done by their other photographer..Sung Young...he does color portraits...and more posed shots. He uses a special film and shoots in color...b/c the camera has to be focused manually...those shots come out gorgeous!

They also shoot in digital, Alberto does that. He has a digital camera, and a film camera that he shoots in b&w and then in color.....

O that is great I have 2 photographers also, so I gues I will have to request that a photo journalist be one of them. THanks so much, I get more and more excited to work with them

As for the digital vs. film I've heard this from more than one photographer. They actually did a segment about it on a 'living' type show and said the same thing. I guess there's some truth to it.

Do you if they will be adding a 3rd team? because they seem to be so popular and I really, really want them for my wedding but they are booked!!!!

i've hear both sides from differnt photographers depending on what they use.

I don't knwo who is right- my photograpgher uses both -film for the color/traditonal & digital for b & W /photojournalistic. that was sort of a coincidence, but I liek the middle of teh raod approach.

I didn't hear anything about a 3rd team being added. I did ask them if they have backup in case one of them gets sick and he said he has 3 photographers as backup...

First of all, Congrats on being another DUET bride, Denise! Add your name to the official thread! Isn't Eric & Nicole the sweetest people in the world to deal with? They just might be our favorite vendors

I am 100% satisfied and confident in Duet's work, and we also requested the photojournalistic photog. for our ceremony. FH and I are more into that style , whereas our parents like the traditional shots .. so we're covering all the bases

Bottom line, their prices cannot be beat for the amazing quality of work they do ..

And isn't the video GREAT? My mom, FH's mom, FH & I just sat there and were dumbstruck at how beautiful it was

Are you doing the casual day shoot with them before your wedding, and/or the signing board for your reception?

Congrats!!!!!!! I haven't even started looking for a photographer yet!!!!!!!!! I hope they are not booked for my day. I have one question for everyone:
how much of a deposit is usually given and how are the payments spread out? I have heard that you give payments and should have 1/3 of the package paid before the wedding.

Think I should call and discuss stuff like that? Or is it too early?

I think that it doesn't matter when you talk to them, they are so accomodating that if you DO say you want more candid pics, they will definitely oblige!

I had it put into the contract the options we wanted and the susbtitutions. They were so flexible and didn't even bat an eyelash when we negotiated the #'s of the contract. You know the fine print.

They told me prices were going up by about 700 since the 2003. We got the 2003 prices.
