Booked hair person, but now I think I want to change...
I know she checks this site often so I have changed my name...
I think I jumped the gun booking my hair person. I paid a deposit (in my opinion it was a lot of $$$). What do I do know, lose my $$$ and try someone new, or see if she'll give me my $$$ back (which I doubt)...
I feel locked in :(

The way I see it, if you are truly unhappy with a vendor, CANCEL. Try to get your deposit back (don't think it's likely though). How much was the deposit, is it too much to just cancel and forget it? Were you unhappy with the trial or just how much she charges??

I guess a little of both. I wasn't thrilled with the trial and I feel I jumped into someone without too many reviews... that worries me. The deposit was $200 or something close.

That's tough. $200 is alot to throw away. Do you think it's possible to tell her that you weren't that impressed with style so she can do another one for you? Maybe say something like, 'rather than canceling, is it possible to get another trial?' or something like that?? Maybe if she sees you weren't happy, she'll try to accomodate you rather than lose the business.
I wouldn't keep her if I wasn't happy. You want to be 100% confident and comfortable with the person who will be making you beautiful that day!

If you are not happy then you should cancel. This is your day and you want to feel 100% confident that you made the right choices with all your vendors.
$200 is a lot for your deposit. Was it for your entire wedding party or just for you? I only paid $65 for my hair the day of.

It was for me and a few bridesmaids. I booked it a few months ago but my wedding is next summer. I am frustrated b/c I feel locked into this decision.

I would try to contact her and see what she says. There is a possibility she may refund your money if she is able to rebook.

Re: Booked hair person, but now I think I want to change...
My hair person was virtually UNKNOWN on the boards when I booked with her, and now almost EVERYONE loves her and uses her. IreneinChicago and I both went for trials with her on the same day and after that EVERYONE wanted a trial with her. It was Tarale, by the way, but she's not doing weddings next year so I can't recommend her. Sorry.
But, that was to make you feel better about staying with whomever you booked with.
Now, big difference is that I LOVED my trial and everyone and their mother loved it too. If you weren't thrilled with your trial, you have a few options: 1. Ask for another trial appt. Explain that you're less than thrilled. If she's reasonable then she'll do what she can for you.
2. Ask for your deposit back. You signed no contract. Tell her your mom is insisting on a total overhaul of the wedding day schedule or something.
3. If she refuses to give you your deposit back, well, that tells us the kind of business woman she is. For goodness' sake, you said your wedding is Next Summer? She can TOTALLY rebook the date between now and then.
Best of luck in whatever you choose.

Did you sign a contract? If not you might be able to get your money back. I would talk to her and have another trial.
