She was truly fabulous. I didn't have to think twice about booking her - I saw what she did with my eyes, and I was sold (not to mention how nice she is too)...I'm not shy when it comes to makeup, but I had no idea she could make my eyes look like this!! I had it done at 12:30 and they still look great.
I tried the airbrush, and am so glad I did. It definitely makes the makeup last - but I do need to touch it up with rice papers and/or powder, because I have extremely oily skin. JN is wonderful, but I can't expect miracles from anyone!!! I highly recommend her - not only for her talent, but she seems truly genuine to me as well.
I was upset when I got home though. I have very problematic skin - break outs all the time, and as I mentioned above, my skin is really oily. I think it's because I have large pores. I guess I had in my head that a makeup artist CAN work miracles. I was hoping that the airbrushing would take away the oil. Naive, yes I know, but Im happy that at least it has stayed on all this time even with the blotting, and you can't see any redness from my blemishes. I wish there was something they can do to just 'seal' my pores for the day to make the oil go away. I have a pit in my stomach just thinking about it. I feel like I'm going to have to blot every 10 min. at the wedding and during pictures. Does anyone have this problem at all, or am I doomed to walk the OILY HIGHWAY alone all my life? If you do have this problem, have you tried a pore minimizer at all? Any suggestions? I've always gotten depressed about it, but it really hit me today that I am 31 with a 15 year olds skin type. Thanks for listening...
Anyway, if you haven't booked a makeup artist yet, I would HIGHLY recommend Jacqueline Nicole.

Re: Booked Jacqueline Nicole today...(LONG)
I have a trial with her on Thursday as well so I'll post my review.
Marnles, I also have a problem with oily skin and I'm 26. It is depressing, I know. My dermatologist gave me a product called 'Clinac O.C. (Oil Control). It's a cream that you put on under your makeup and it's supposed to absorb the oil in your skin. I don't use it everyday because I thought it made my face break out more, but it does help the amount of oil during the day. You could go to a derm and ask him about the product (he gave me a sample) Like I said...I don't use it everyday...but on special occassions...I think it's worth it. Also, the best thing to do is blot your face with rice paper or a tissue rather than constantly applying pressed powder. In my experiences, it has only made my makeup look more 'cakey'.
Book out a derm appt. every week before your wedding. (I've already booked mine!) He can inject cortisone into any blemishes you may have. It doesn't cure the infection under the skin and they will probably return on your honeymoon, but it does reduce the swelling within 24 hours.
Sorry this is so long, but I hope that helps...glad you were happy with your trial!

I will make an appointment for a trial with Jacqueline Nicole soon. Thanks for the good review.
I have oily skin too. I thought by this age I wouldn't have to worry about this anymore, but I do and I hate it.
I'm sure you will look beautiful on your wedding day!

Thanks Mrs2B and Karen...I'm literally in tears right now. I'm very upset about it. I'm just so frustrated - I wish I could do something to help it...I've been battling this since I'm 21 (never had a breakout before then). Although I'm so happy with JN, and she did a wonderful job, I wish I could feel beautiful...

Have you ever tried birth control pills? Certain ones really do clear up your skin. Also, if you go for a facial you will see a huge difference. They can use a clay mask that aborbs oil. I have one by Body Works that I use. My skin is semi-oily in the T zone and it seems to really make my skin better. But nothing beats a real professional facial. Jackie from IMAKEUP.com is wonderful at them. She charges about $50 which is a great price too. Speak with her about the oil and I am sure she can help you. I plan on getting one once a month until the wedding Aug, Sept. Oct. NEVER get a facial the week of your wedding though. You never want to risk a breakout or reaction that close to your big day. Do not get upset. I know that it is hard but you are getting feeling stress over all of this. You are beautiful and you will look beautiful on your wedding day. And crying will give you puffy eyes anyway so no more of that. Body work makes a tea tree oil blotting paper. You might like those also.

Re: Booked Jacqueline Nicole today...(LONG)
I booked JN for my wedding in August. She is great!!! I also have problem skin and I am 33. About 3 years ago I started using the Clinique line and I swear by it. I went to dermatologists and had all the creams & pills and it didn't work. You have to use the products 2x a day every day and it will work. It did miracles for my skin. If I remember correctly, it did take a few weeks to clear up so be patient. Hope this helps you.

Re: MARNLES
My friend uses a mattifying liquid (neutrogena or oil of olay) and swears by it. She also has very oily skin but her makeup is very matte when she uses it.

Re: MARNLES
Stef, if I went into a store and asked for mattifying liquid would they look at me like I'm nuts? I just wanted to check and see if that is a real term becase I have never heard of that and I seem to remember you coining a phrase about pseudo-photojournalistic, or something along those lines
Marni, seriously, you are a knockout! On my best day I wouldn't look as good as you do in your profile. I think you can definitely relax about how you will look on the day of your wedding.

Re: You guys are awesome...
I just wanted to thank you to ALL OF YOU. I wound up signing off before because I was just too depressed, and I return and you ladies have been so incredibly sweet. Thank you...
I have tried every product (although I've been using Murad and have seen some difference), have given up soda (although not all cafeine), I wash my face 2x/day, and still the same.
Lori - I have heard really great stuff about Clinique from a friend as well...I think I'm going to try it next!!
Michele - good advice about the facial. I was just talking about that today! I'm going to try one and I agree 100% about not doing it too close to the wedding. Thanks for the advice on the papers too!
Stef - If you're talking about the neutrogena pore refining mattifier, I've already tried it. It goes on matte at first, then in about 20 min (rather than 10) i need to blot. Thanks anyway though - Becky, I could see how it works for others so if I were you I would try it. I bought it in Genovese...
Thanks again Ladies. I feel a little better now - could this be a sure sign of PMS or what? Thanks so much for helping...

Re: You guys are awesome...
If you don't mind me asking, what are her prices for the make-up. If I remember correctly her trial is free ??, but what are the prices for the wedding day. I will be the only one having make-up done, my bm's aren't interested in having theirs done at all.

Marni- Just a thought, Have you ever tried Mary Kay makeup? I know they have an oil control lotion and an oil mattifier. My sister uses this stuff and she is really happy with it (she has very oily skin). I know Mary Kay also has the blotting tissues that take off the oil but not the make-up. Try a few things before your Big Day, and I'm sure you'll find something. Your going to look amazing!!!!

Re: Booked Jacqueline Nicole today...(LONG)
I believe Sephora has a few more of the 'mattifying' (not my term) stuff. I find Neutrogena stuff tends to be weak on purpose. Im sure there are some make up brands that make more powerful stuff.

DecBride02- Her prices are competitive. She charges $100 for the bride, but if you're getting airbrush, it's $125 because the airbrush foundation is so expensive. The trial is free, unless you get the airbrush, which I did, so the trial was only $25. And for the trial she took a TON of time with me, I didn't feel rushed AT ALL. I bought my mom and FMIL their makeup for the wedding day, and it was $55 each. She is traveling to my FMIL's house that day, with no traveling expenses. Hope this helps!
OctBride - Thanks for the Mary Kay suggestion. I used to use her face wash, toner and mask - perhaps they weren't the right products for me, because I didn't notice a difference. I never looked into the oil control...is there a website? Thanks!
SonicStef - Thanks for the Sephora suggestion. I hope I don't sound stupid here, but where can I find these products? I figure I should try everything at this point before the big day to see which works best for me. I'll go broke doing it of course, but hopefully will get the results I'm looking for!
You guys are positively THE BEST!!

Marnles, I dont' know about Sephora in Long Island, but i frequent the one in Soho (NYC) and there is one at the Garden State Plaza in NJ ( NO TAX!)
Sephora has wonderful products, and the salespeople in NYC are very knowledgable. If you head to Soho, you might consider a facial across the street at Bliss. Their facialists are amazing, and I think would be able to help you with questions you have. Good luck to you.

Marnles...
Lancome has a nice mattifying liquid as does Clinique and Philosophy's 'The Present' is awesome because it is silicone based and glides over the pores. Did Jacqueline use a skin primer on you or an oil free moisturizer? I have combo skin... on days that I know I may get more oily, i skip the moisturizer (except under the eyes i use a light one), then apply the mattifying liquid to my t-zone and after waiting a minute to let that sink in I put on the Philosophy 'The Present' stuff. Then WAIT ONE FULL MINUTE at least before using any foundation. I love how my makeup lasts with it. The silicone fills in the pores and the makeup glides over it. It makes my skin feel really nice too. It also has a mattifying effect but if you are really oily use a seperate mattifying liquid on the t-zone too. Good luck!

Hi, I know someone mentioned an acne cream made by clinique on a post the other day that is supposed to be really good. I believe that it is the only one that they make. Im actually going to pick it up for FH because he gets terrible breakouts on his back (due to bulletproof vest). Maybe you might want to check it out. I agree with Lori, Clinique is very good, I use them all the time.
