We'll be meeting with the church on March 26th to drop off all our sacrament certificates and pre-cana completion certificate and to discuss and pick our readings and ceremony music.
I just have to get FH's baptism/confirmation documents from his church because I didn't know that the certificate had to be provided within the last 6 months. The one we have is the original one his parents received when he made the sacraments that's no good (really I don't get what the big deal is - it's proof!). Thank god I don't have to track down mine as well since we are getting married at my church and they have everything already.

well maybe for your church they do but mine said 6 months. I was never told this when I booked the date. Oh well, not going to kick and scream about, I'm just going to get it done LOL

No it's 6 months. Our pastor told me the reason but I can't remember.

well you luckily still have time. I'm praying that I won't have any trouble getting in touch with his church and getting them this close to the wedding.

I was told 6 months, too - although mine is like 8 months b/c I requested it immediately from the parish where I was baptized!!

It has to be recent to make sure he's not already married by the Church. They mark when and where you make your Sacrements on your Baptism Certificate, so if he got married in the Church it would be marked. I don't know the reasoning behind 6 months though. Maybe they're hoping you won't be getting married 2x in 6 months??

well it's all good now. I got in touch wih the church he was baptised at and they have record of his confirmation as well so they are mailing us the certificate and we'll have it soon. Thank god that was quick and painless!
