So I went to Swan Club on Friday and I absolutely loved it and surprisingly it was within our budget, so I brought Brian back on Saturday to look at it and we secured our date 08-08-08.
How exciting and relieving to already have our hall booked so far in advance..
Now comes what Brian says will be the hardest part for us.... securing a photographer who will work with us based on what we are looking for. Since Brian does photography and creative design, I know he would prefer to handle all of the post creative work on touch ups and album layout, so we would like to find a photographer who can work within the following:
1. Take evening of wedding photographs. (Ceremony & Reception) 2. Provide original RAW digital negatives of all photographs to us. 3. Allow us to do our own photo retouching, editing / enhancements of photos. 4. Allow us to create our own layout for our album. 5. Deliver to us one wedding album. (no family albums)
If anyone here, has been in a similar situation where you wanted to do all of the post design work, maybe you could recommend a photographer, so it would help make our search a little easier.
Thanks so much,,, Regina & Brian

Try Thomas Paul Photography. He will work with you, and he gives you a lot for your $$. Hes a great guy as well...youll be comfortable with him.
I am using Twelfth Night and it is EXACTLY what you are looking for. Domenick is fantastic. I'm telling you that you will love it! Please FM me if you have any questions or need any further info. I highly recommend them and they do excellent work and have great prices. They also have photojournalistic. I have a regular photographer and a photojournalistic. Because I booked two photographers we get free engagement pics.

Re: Booked our Hall... now Photographer question!
thanks.... I've emailed both of those places per your recommendation, let's wait and see.
Brian got a response back from Foto by Verdi and although he really likes their photographic style he thought the price was on the high side considering we would be doing the majority of the post wedding work.
Granted, Brian says that most photogs make their money on prints and albums so he knows that places might charge a little more since by us having the negatives we take any future profit away from the photographers.
The price we were quoted from Foto Verdi based on what we are looking for is $7,400.
That seemed very high to me, what have your experiences been with pricing?
they have a really great style -- although i didn't end up booking them because i did want a package that included parent albums, etc.
their main package is $4000 for 2 photographers -- you're guaranteed 1000 proofs (4x6 images with no watermarks or stamps or anything).... but that does not include your album.
they do great work! you should check them out... they're located in brooklyn (they're a husband and wife.. very nice people!)

Verdi is one of the more expensive photographers (we paid $4500 and didn't get our negatives), but we thought it was worth it for the quality of their work. I honestly haven't encountered a Verdi bride yet that wasn't absolutely thrilled with their proofs...
If you have any questions on Verdi, feel free to FM me.

Re: Booked our Hall... now Photographer question!
Thanks for all the responses and voted for 12th...
Brian sent them an email earlier on so we will wait to hear back from them.... he is a tougher critic than I am and can tell alot about a persons work by looking at their website, so he definitely liked their website and said for their rates we could probably look to book 2 of their photographers, one as a photojournalist.
I know Brian and I both really really liked FotoVerdi, but the more we thought about it, the one thing that kind of turned us off to FotoVerdi is on their website it says their pricing is $4,500 which includes proofs and albums, and the response we got was several thousand $$$ more than that.... and it wasnt so much the price difference as it was the non personal / matter of fact email response we got.
If you are expecting someone to pay upwards of $7,000 for your services, you would think you might at least call the person or have a little more warmth than just saying 'our price is $X, if it's within your budget call us'.
Brian said he has heard of them before, and knows that they are good.... but it just seems a little empty of a response to me...
I am looking forward to talking with Domenic from 12th.

Brian contacted her and she said..
'Thank you for your inquiry. Unfortunatley I do not feel comfortable taking bookings two years away. I only book a year ahead.'
so much for planning early...
thanks for the suggestion though!

Re: Booked our Hall... now Photographer question!
Thanks... Brian had some follow up emails with Foto Verdi and I guess he was very happy with their second response as it was more personal and warm... so I know he is interested in them.
He also spoke with Domenic at 12th Night this evening and said he really enjoyed talking with him.... I guess 2 photographers can talk it up as much as us bride to be's, so he set up a appointment to go over there on Thursday night.
