Do you ladies think places are booking up quickly already for 2007? Thanks.

it all depends on where you want to have it, but I think you have time to shop around

Thanks, these are actually on my 'must visit' list. I'm planning on booking a hall by May/05. I'd want to have options.

Your scaring me. I better get a move on. I'd rather be booked and done. I think I'm going to start looking at halls come next week. I want to go to Russo's last just because that's where I will probably end up booking more than likely...but I just want to explore what else is out there first.

Re: Booking a 2007 wedding
I don't think you will have much of a problem by May of 2005. Like stated earlier, it really does depend on where, but you are still leaving 2 years notice. I think you will be good.
ETA: Once you know for sure where you want to have it, I say book it!

I booked Leonards in Aug 02 for my May 04 wedding. I couldn't get my first choice room because it was already booked...

OMG, that's nuts. How many big ballrooms does Leonard's have? What's the off-season for marriages and the 'hot' season for marriages? You think it depends on the hall? Since you booked two years in advance, did they scatter the payment plan over two years also? Thanks for your help. I should of booked my wedding 7yrs ago for now...prices probably would of been way cheaper. I wonder, do you think that's even possible?

Re: Booking a 2007 wedding
I booked one of the most popular dates of the year (sunday before memorial day) for may '06 last weekend. Yes, a number of places were booked, but clearly i was okay--and that's a really popular date!

Re: Booking a 2007 wedding
no payment plan. I only gave them a $1500 deposit. My MIL wanted us to add things on to our package, so when we did that, I gave them the additional money at that time, but that was my choice.

Re: Booking a 2007 wedding
I think you should start fairly soon. I don't remember if The Vineyard's was booked for any days in 07 but, my DJ (Tommy Tunes) certainly was!
PS Crest Hollow is beautiful and I've been to three weddings there. If I didn't live out East I would have definitely considered it.

Re: Booking a 2007 wedding
2007? I might *slowly* visit halls you've heard about that you like.
Don't visit 6 in a weekend like I once did...it's craziness.
Very few halls book 1.5-2 years in advance, so it depends on the particular hall & time of year you're looking for.
Someone I know wanted a June wedding at leonard's and ended up booking I believe 2 years in advance.
Don't freak out...just buy some magazines and search through this board for feedback and them visit them.

Re: Booking a 2007 wedding
We booked our 1/06 reception last year (11/03). I didn't have any problems securing my date because it is in January (off season)but I now some of the more popular months (May, June & the fall) were booking.
Our hall spread our payments out for us. We paid like $500 or $1000 on the spot, another $1000 a month or so laater, another $2000 last spring and we have 2 more payments of $2000 & $3000 in spring & fall 2005 before the final BIG payment right before.
Good luck!

Re: Booking a 2007 wedding
I am also wondering when to book a 2007 wedding... we have a little bit of a complicated situation though - we're both just starting out in the teaching field. He knows exactly where he's working and how much he'll make for the first couple years, but I, however, am finishing grad school before getting a job. Our parents are not paying for the wedding, (but I'm sure they'll give generous gifts), so we're not really sure what our budget can be yet. I'm afraid that I won't know this stuff until it's too late to book, so we've discussed it and I think we're going to book a place based on the 'best for the $$$' strategy. We're simple people and we'll be happy anywhere, but as some of you ladies know, 'anywhere' isn't good enough for a L.I. family. I hope to book by June. I didn't really think late Feb is too popular for weddings, but I may be wrong!

Re: Booking a 2007 wedding
I would seriously start looking now. You ahve time and can do it slowly...also holday weekends a my hall were already booked into 2007!!!!!! AND there's a bar mitzvah already booked for the morning of my wedding (i have the evening slot)...so I'd actually start looking. I'm Dec 2006, so I'm just about a 2007 bride and I'm glad I booked now...the spaces really do fill up quickly!
ETA: about payments, at my hall you need to give the first $6000 of deposits in the first 3 months, but because we have 2 years we asked our BM and she's giivng us 6 months. I really didn't anticipate having to pay this much right now ( we haven;t saved a penny yet), but in a way it's good because by June we'll have a big chunk of the wedding already paid for and it's less to put off and worry about later

Re: Booking a 2007 wedding
I would start looking but do not rush...I think it is a more common thing nowadays that people book their weddings far in advance bc majority of us pay for some part if not all of the wedding...I know my photographer ADA, is already booked for i believe 5 dates in 2007...
